MAQUOKETA'S FIRST FULLTIME MANAGER OF THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY WAS ARRESTED IN CLINTON FOR ALLEGEDLY ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE A MINOR.
TERRY CAMPIE, AGE 54, WAS CHARGED OF ATTEMPTED ENTICEMENT OF A MINOR, WHICH IS AN AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOR. HE IS THE DEAN AT ITT TECHNUICAL INSTITUTE IN CEDAR RAPIDS. HE WAS IN MAQUOKETA FROM 1985 TO 1989.
THE ARREST WAS MADE AT 6 P.M. FRIDAY NIGHT AND HE WAS TO APPEAR IN
COURT TODAY.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT. THEY WILL AWARD A CONTRACT
TO RESURFACE WASHINGTON STREET IN FRONT OF THE MAQUOKETA HIGH
SCHOOL. ALSO THEY WILL DISCUSS THE CAMPER PADS AT HORSESHOE POND PARK, AND WILL BE ASKED TO RETURN THE SUMMIT AND MAIN INTERSECTION TO THE WAY IT WAS WITHOUT TURNING LANES. THERE WILL ALSO BE A DISCUSSION ON THE FUTURE OF LITTLE BEAR PARK.
VIRGINIA HAMILTON, AGE 93, OF IOWA CITY DIED APRIL 23RD. SURVIVORS INCLUDE
A SON IN MAQUOKETA, DR. RAY HAMILTON.
BOB THOMAS OF MAQUOKETA RESIGNED LAST WEEK FROM THE HOSPITAL BOARD HERE IN MAQUOKETA. HE CITED ILLNESS OF HIS WIFE, KAREN, AS THE REASON
FOR STEPPING DOWN. HE HAS SERVED ON THAT BOARD OVER 6 YEARS.
