NO SUNSHINE TODAY.     PRETTY GOOD RAIN OVER THE NOON HOUR.    IN THE 40'S AGAIN TODAY, BUT BETTER WEATHER JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

GENESIS HEALTH  SYSTEM EXECUTIVES OF DAVENPORT MET WITH THE JACKSON COUNTY REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER ADMINISTRATION, AND BOARD MEMBERS, YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AT THE HOSPITAL AND TALKED ABOUT PRIORITIES WHEN THE LOCAL HOSPITAL BECOMES AFFILIATED  WITH GENISIS JULY 1ST, REPLACING FINLEY HOSPITAL OF DUBUQUE.      DOUGLAS CROPPER, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF GENESIS, SAID THEY WILL FOCUS ON QUALITY AND SAFE CARE IN MAQUOKETA.      HE SAID THEY HAVE EXPERTISE TO ASSIST IN PHYSICIAN RECRUITMENT AND UNDERSTAND WHAT THE NEEDS ARE OF THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL.     HE SAID HE  UNDERSTANDS RE-OPENING THE OB DEPARTMENT IS A HIGH PRIORITY AND GENESIS WILL WORK WITH THE HOSPITAL HERE TO FIND A PHYSICIAN.      OUR HOSPITAL CEO, CURT COLEMAN,
SAID MEDICAL ASSOCIATES IN TOWN IS ALSO SEARCHING FOR AN OB DOCTOR.
CROPPER SAID GENESIS WILL BRING A LOT TO THE HOSPITAL INCLUDING ASSISTANCE
WITH THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.   HE SAID THEY WILL BRING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO MAQUOKETA WHICH DON'T EXIST NOW AND HELP THOSE SERVICES THAT NEED TO BE STRONGER.       BOTH SIDES EXPECT TO HAVE A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT SIGNED WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

CHARGES ARE PENDING IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A MOBILE HOME  AT FAWN CREEK MOBILE HOME PARK AT THE EAST EDGE OF MAQUOKETA.    POLICE OFFICER MIKE OWENS SAID CHARGES ARE PENDING AGAINST THE DRIVER, DIANNA ERICKSON, AGE 38, OF MAQUOKETA.    THE OFFICER SAID ERICKSON WAS DRIVING EAST ON SPENCER STREET IN THE MOBILE HOME PARK SUNDAY AND LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WENT OFF THE ROAD AND HIT THE NORTH CORNER OF A MOBILE HOME OWNED BY ELAINE FLAGEL, OF 39 YALE STREET IN THE PARK.     DAMAGES WERE LISTED AT $2,500 TO FLAGEL'S
MOBILE HOME.   NO INJURIES REPORTED.

OF MAQUOKETA FOR SUPPORTING THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB BY BUYING 4 DUCKS TO RACE IN THE ROTARY DUCK RACE ON JUNE 21ST, THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.....AT THE YMCA POOL.     THAT EVENING, IF ONE OF THEIR 4 DUCKS
IS FAST, THEY COULD WIN $1,000 OR $100.     

MAY 16TH, CHUCK AND JEAN DYER OF MAQUOKETA WILL CELEBRATE THEIR
70TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.       THEY WERE MARRIED MAY 16, 1949 IN
DUBUQUE.    CHUCK WAS EMPLOYED WITH A PROPERTY INSURANCE ADJUSTMEHT COMPANY FOR 35 YEARS.       UPON RETIRING, THEY MOVED TO MAQUOKETA IN
1977.    THEY HAVE 2 CHILDREN, 6 GRANDCHILDREN AND 11 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.     THEY LIVE AT 403 EAST ANGUS COURT.      70 YEARS!   HOW ABOUT THAT?

MARJORIE HOSCH, 89, OF MONTICELLO DIED YESTERDAY.    SHE IS SURVIVED BY A SON, JIM HOSCH, OF MAQUOKETA AND A DAUGHER-IN-LAW TERESA  HOSCH OF MAQUOKETA.    KRAMER FUNERAL HOME IN MONTICELLO IS IN CHARGE OF
ARRANGEMENTS.

THE MASONS  HAVE THEIR FAMOUS WAFFLE BREAKFAST THIS SUNDAY MORNING
AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.    

THEY ARE CLEANING UP THE EMPTY FORMER FAREWAY BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN
MAQUOKETA.     HAVE NOT HEARD WHAT MAY HAPPEN THERE.     AS SOON AS I HEAR, I'LL LET YOU KNOW.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON, SOME OF THE POPULAR 30'S AND 40'S BANDS OF THE MAQUOKETA  AREA WILL HAVE A GET-TOGETHER AT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM  ON THE FAIRGROUNDS.....THE OKLAHOMA COWBOYS, SHIELDS BROTHERS,
THE CARL LYMAN BAND, AND OTHERS.    PROGRAM AT 2.     THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS ACQUIRED THE BASE DRUM OF THE COWBOYS BAND.    THIS EVENT WILL BE
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.     RED WILL BE THERE OF COURSE.

HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND THURSDAY.

THE BIG HOLE WITH FILL.        THEY ARE DOING A  GOOD JOB!

SO...BY END OF DAY, CLEAN-UP IS DONE.     NEXT,  THE FILL-IN AND SIDEWALKS AND
SEEDING.

SUMMER.    KENDALL MEN'S WEAR WAS IN THIS BUILDING FOR A LONG TIME, OWNED
BY HAVEN KENDALL.    HE DIED QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO.
HAVEN'S SON, RICH, HAS 2 OR 3 CULVER'S RESTAURANTS IN CEDAR RAPIDS
AREA AND HIS MOTHER STILL  LIVES IN MAQUOKETA.
