AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT, MORE LIVELY DEBATE ON
THE ARC PROJECT. IT STARTED DURING THE AUDIENCE PORTION OF THE AGENDA. PAM ROSENBERG OF MAQUOKETA READ A PREPARED STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF HER HUSBAND JACK, CRITICIZING MAYOR TOM MESSERLI FOR HIS POSITION ON THE ARC PROJECT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN GENERAL. ROSENBERG URGED THE COUNCIL TO MOVE FORWARD AND AVOID A CRISIS IN MAQUOKETA. I MISSED HER PRESENTATION ON ACCESS CHANNEL 18 LAST NIGHT, BUT HEARD THE REMARKS BY JACK HIMSELF AT THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY MEETING EARLIER THIS MONTH. THE ARC DREAM (BY SOME) HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND MORE RECENTLY, HAS STARTED TO DIVIDE THE TOWN.
DURING MUCH OF THE ARC DISCUSSION LAST NIGHT, BOND FINANCING METHODS WERE DISCUSSED UNTIL THE COUNCIL VOTED TO TABLE ACTION ON BOND FINANCING UNTIL AFTER THE BIDS ON THE ARC PROJECT ARE OPENED ON APRIL 4TH.
FIRE CALL LAST NIGHT TO 814 SOUTH MAIN STREET AT A DUPLEX OWNED BY TIM CLARK. A RENTER EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE WHEN AN OUTLET OVERHEATED. A WALL IN THE AREA OF THE OUTLET WAS SCORCHED AND THERE WAS SOME MINOR SMOKE. MINOR DAMAGE.
SHARON BELLER, 71, OF MAQUOKETA DID TODAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.
SERVICES PENDING AT LAHEY FUNERAL HOME. SHE HAD A PET GROOMING BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS AND HER LATE HUSBAND WAS A LONGTIME BARBER.

DR. BROMAN BROUGHT HIS SON, TODD (YOUNGEST SON) TO COFFEE THIS
MORNING. HE AND HIS WIFE BOTH TEACH SCHOOL NEAR DES MOINES, IN TWO DIFFERENT SCHOOL DISTRICTS. SHE'S AN ELEMENTARY TEACHER AND HE'S A HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY TEACHER. THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY TO DECORAH WHERE OLDEST OF THEIR TWO SONS (NO GIRLS) IS A STUDENT AT LUTHER, WHERE TODD GRADUATED FROM. THEIR YOUNGER SON IS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND ALSO PLANS TO GO TO LUTHER.
DOUG, IS HIS NAME, AND HE RECENTLY WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL AND ALSO JUST EARNED HIS EAGLE SCOUT. DR. BROMAN, BECAUSE OF A STROKE A COUPLE YEARS AGO, TALKS AND WALKS SLOWLY. DRIVES HIS CAR A LITTLE. LIVES IN HIS BIG HOUSE ON WEST SUMMIT STREET AND
MAKE TO THE WEEKLY ROTARY MEETING MOST WEDNESDAY. HIS WIFE DIED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I'M SURE MANY OF YOU HAD HIM AS YOUR DOCTOR.
TEACHER CONFERENCES TOMORROW AND THURSDAY. SCHOOL WILL GET OUT AT 12:30 BOTH AFTERNOONS AND THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL FRIDAY.
