THE JACKSON COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION HAS UPHELD THE FIRING OF JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY KEVIN SCOTT. YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, IT WAS A UNANIMOUS DECISION BY THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION, BOB HEAD, CLAY ROMER AND HAROLD MILLER. SCOTT HAS 30 DAYS TO APPEAL TO THE JACKSON COUNTY DISTRICT COURT. HE WAS FIRED BY SHERIFF RUSS KETTMAN ON SEPTEMBER 10TH.
BREITBACH'S COUNTRY DINING BURNED TO THE GROUND EARLY THIS MORNING.
THE ORIGINAL HISTORIC (IOWA'S OLDEST RESTAURANT, BUILT IN 1853) BALLTOWN RESTAURANT (A KMAQ ADVERTISER) BURNED TO THE GROUND LAST CHRISTMAS EVE AND THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED BUILDING OPENED IN JUNE. THEY WERE DOING GREAT BUSINESS. I HEARD THEY SERVED OVER 3,000 DINNERS THIS PAST SUNDAY. IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT STARTED THE FIRE. WE WERE UP THERE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS A GREAT (BIG) PLACE, AND GREAT FOOD TOO.

IT WAS MENTIONED IN HIS OBITUARY THAT HE OFTEN ENJOYED A STIFF DRINK. DID THOSE HELP HIM TO LIVE TO BE 92? THERE ARE STUDIES TO BACK THAT NOTION.
