65 AND SUNNY ON FRIDAY....THE OPENING DAY OF TORQUEFEST. OVER 350 VINTAGE CARS HAVE PRE-REGISTERED AND THE NUMBER IS EXPECTED TO GROW TO
500. THERE WILL BE 11 BANDS HERE FOR THE TWO-DAY EVENT.
ALL HAPPENING AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. BIG CAR SHOW IN BOTH BUILDINGS
ON THE GROUNDS. CARS TRYING OUT THEIR ENGINES ON THE FAIRGROUNDS
DIRT TRACK. THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME....JUST $5 ADMISSION TO TAKE IN
THE BIG EVENT.

MAQUOKETA SCHOOL SUPT. KIM HUCKSTADT HAS A NEW TITLE....DR. KIM
HUCKSTADT. ON APRIL 15TH, HE GOT HIS DOCTOR'S DEGREE AT WESTERN
ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY. HE SAID THE PROCESS TOOK 3 AND 1/2 YEARS AND WAS DONE MORE FOR PERSONAL REASONS THAN ANY CAREER ADVANCEMENT. HE DID
MENTION THAT HE MIGHT SOMEDAY LIKE TO TEACH ON THE COLLEGE LEVEL.
DR. HUCKSTADT HAS BEEN OUR SUPT. HUCKSTADT FOR 10 YEARS....AND
WILL BE BACK FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. HE'S ALSO HAPPY ABOUT THE
ST. LOUIS CARDINALS BEING IN FIRST PLACE TODAY.

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER.....VIRL BANOWETZ REPORTED A DOUBLE EXTENSION LADDER WAS TAKEN FROM OUTSIDE BANOWETZ ANTIQUES. IT IS VALUED
AT ABOUT $240.
JACKIE LANG ON NORTH MAIN REPORTED SOMEONE ATTEMPTED TO BREAK
INTO HER HOME....
AND LARRY MCDEVITT REPORTED THAT SOMEONE BROKE OUT ONE OF THE
WINDOWS ON ONE OF HIS OLD CARS ON EAST QUARRY.
