DAY WITH A HIGH OF 82.
THE VISITOR CENTER (YEARS AGO THE SAGER'S MUSEUM BUILDING) AT THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK HAS BEEN CLOSED THIS SEASON DUE TO LACK OF VISITORS. THIS IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE CAVES AT THE PARK BEING CLOSED BECAUSE OF THE THREAT OF "WHITE NOSE BAT SYNDROME". THIS IS A TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE CENTER. IT WILL RE-OPEN AGAIN ON A REGULAR WEEKEND BASIS WHEN ACCESS TO THE CAVES IS AGAIN ALLOWED. IT WILL OPEN FOR SPECIAL NEEDS THOUGH. FOR INSTANCE, IT WILL BE OPEN SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY DURING THE JULY 4TH HOLIDAY AND AGAIN DURING LABOR DAY WEEKEND, WHEN TRAFFIC AT THE PARK IS HEAVIER THAN A NORMAL WEEKEND. AND THE CENTER
WILL ALSO OPEN FOR GROUP TOURS BY APPOINTMENT. CONTACT
THE PARK RANGER, SCOTT DYKSTRA, AT 652-5833.
AND SPREAD THE WORD THAT THE PARK IS OPEN FOR PICNICS, CAMPING,
HIKING, ETC. ONLY CLOSED, THE WALK-THROUGH CAVES. THERE
IS A NICE RV PARK TOO.
GOOD NIGHT FOR THE OPENING OF THE RODEO TONIGHT.
THREE MORE DAYS....FRI-SUN....TO VISIT THE WOODCARVER'S CONVENTION OPEN HOUSE AT THE FAIRGROUNDS.
SLEEP WELL!
