ANOTHER FINE DAY!

THE GRAND CHAMPION STEER AT LAST WEEK'S JACKSON COUNTY FAIR
(OWNED BY HUNTER HOLDGRAFER OF BRYANT) WILL BE ONE OF 25 IN
THE 33RD ANNUAL GOVERNOR'S ANNUAL CHARITY STEER SHOW ON
AUGUST 15TH DURING THE FAIR.    IT BENEFITS RONALD McDONALD
HOUSE CHARITIES.

JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION HAS A NEW NATURALIST.   SHE IS
EMILY HIGHNUM, AGE 23, AND A NATIVE OF CEDAR FALLS.    SHE GRADUATED FROM IOWA STATE LAST FALL.  

SOMEONE SENT ME SOME  OLD PHOTOS.    THIS IN 1939 AT MT. RUSHMORE.

THEY STARTED  PAINTING TODAY THE CORNER BUILDING AT CORNER OF MAIN AND PLATT THAT IS HOME OF THE MEXICAN FOOD RESTAURANT.   IN
JULY NEW WINDOWS WERE PUT IN.   I'LL HAVE A PHOTO WHEN IT IS
COMPLETED.   SHOULD  REALLY DRESS-UP THE CORNER AND DOWNTOWN
MAQUOKETA.


 A JACKSON COUNTY DEPUTY, MIKE PETERS, WAS DISMISSED OF  HIS
DUTIES IN JULY DO TO MEDICAL ISSUES AND NOW JACKSON COUNTY
IS IN SEARCH OF A NEW DEPUTY.    ANYONE INTERESTED MUST APPLY
BEFORE AUGUST 14TH.   THERE WILL BE A PHYSICAL TEST ON SEPTEMBER 2ND.   ANY QUESTIONS, CALL LUANNE AT SUPERVISORS OFFICE AT

94 YEAR OLD W.C. "BILL" RANKIN OF COOKEVILLE, TENN. DIED SUNDAY.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE VERNA. 2 CHILDREN, SOME GRANDCHILDREN AND A BROTHER, JIM RANKIN (MARILYN) OF MAQUOKETA.
