HOT TODAY...AROUND 90

THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS BEEN GIVEN SOME ARTIFACTS
FROM CLINTON ENGINES AND HOPES TO SECURE MORE. BONNIE MITCHELL, CURATOR, AND ASHER SCHROEDER, BOARD PRESIDENT, TOLD MAQUOKETA COUNCIL MEMBERS THIS WEEK THAT BILL MAYBERRY AND JOHN MELROY HAVE AGREED TO PROVIDE MANY ITEMS FROM CLINTON ENGINES. MANY ARE STORED IN THE OLD QUONSET HUT ON MAPLE STREET, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CLINTON ENGINES BUILDING THAT WAS THE OFFICE BUILDING FOR THE FIRM AND THAT IS NOW OWNED BY THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY. THE BUILDING WILL BE RENOVATED AND USED AS A MUSEUM. THE CITY COUNCIL HAS ORDERED MAYBERRY AND MELROY TO VACATE THE HUT BUILDING BY NO LATER THAN OCTOBER. THE BUILDING, OWNED BY THE CITY, HAS A BAD ROOF AND IS OVERALL BAD CONDITION.
MITCHELL SAID IT WILL BE A WHILE BEFORE THE CLINTON ENGINES ITEMS CAN BE PUT ON DISPLAY IN THE RENOVATED BUILDING. SHE SAID THE HISTORICAL SOCITY WILL POURING A SIDEWALK ALONG CLARK STREET IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE THEY CONTINUE WORK ON THE INSIDE OF THE FORMER ADMINISTRATION BUILING. LAST YEAR, THEY PUT A NEW ROOF ON THE BUILDING AND NEW WINDOWS, GUTTED THE INTERIOR, AND TOOK DOWN OLD TREES OUTSIDE AND PLANTED A NEW LAWN. A NEW FURNACE IS BEING INSTALLED TOO. THE BUILDING REALLY LOOKS NICE FROM THE OUTSIDE. THERE IS SOME THOUGHT BEING GIVEN TO A CLINTON ENGINES SOCIETY BEING FORMED AND IT WOULD SELL THE PARTS LIKE MAYBERRY AND MELROY ARE DOING NOW. THE PROPOSED NEW CLINTON ENGINES ASSOCIATION COULD HAVE A YEARLY CONVENTION IN MAQUOKETA. THE SOCIETY HAS A WEB SITE FOR THE CLINTON ENGINES
BUILDING: www.clintonengines.com

NOTHING ELSE FOR TODAY.
