FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

NICE, NICE, NICE DAY TODAY...SUNNY AND 70.
TOMORROW, SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME.
BUT, RAIN STARTS SUNDAY AND WILL LAST FOR A FEW DAYS.

AT THE HOSPITAL BOARD MEETING THIS WEEK, THE BOARD VOTED TO AUTHORIZE THE TRANSITION OF HOME HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES TO GENESIS VNA, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1ST.     GENESIS VNA IS ONE OF THE LARGEST IN IOWA.   LOCAL SERVICES ARE NOW HANDLED AT THE HOSPITAL BY JACKSON COUNTY HOME AND COMMUNITY HEALTH.   CURRENT EMPLOYEES WILL BECOME GENESIS EMPLOYEES.     GENESIS VNA WILL RENT OFFICE SPACE AT THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL.     THEY SERVE
AS CLINTON COUNTY HEALTH AND IN A DOZEN OTHER COUNTIES.
THIS MOVE WILL BRING IN TO MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL AN IMPROVEMENT OF $176,OOO ANNUALLY.    SOUNDS LIKE A VERY POSITIVE MOVE.

MAQUOKETA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THE THEFT OF A LAPTOP COMPUTER AT THE  WAL-MART STORE TUESDAY.   THE THEFT WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA AND THE POLICE REPORT INDICATES 3 MALE SUSPECTS WERE INVOLVED.

A CLINTON COUNTY ONE-CAR ACCIDENT BY A MAQUOKETA MAN, ZACHARY
DAGUE, AGE 22.    HE WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 61 ... WENT ONTO THE SHOULDER, OVER CORRECTED AND LOST CONTROL.    HE WAS CHARGED AND HIS VAN DAMAGE WAS LISTED AT $5,000.

REMEMBER THE GIZMO ABOVE?   MAQUOKETA HAD A LOT OF THEM AT ONE TIME.      WHEN THEY WERE TAKEN OFF THE STREETS, I BOUGHT ONE AND IT IS IN THE KMAQ BASEMENT SOMEWHERE.    MANY BIG CITIES STILL USE
THEM TO CONTROL PARKING.     ONE WOULD PUT THE OVER-DUE PARKING FINE INTO A LITTLE ENVELOPE AND THERE WERE NUMEROUS BOXES
ON POLES WHERE ENVELOPE COULD BE DEPOSITED.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND AND NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE PLANS FOR
"MAY DAY" THIS YEAR.     SURPRISE FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH
A MAY BASKET MAY 1ST.    MANY LIKE TO PUT IT ON THE FRONT STEPS
EARLY IN THE MORNING AND LEAVE NO NAME.   PEOPLE THEN WONDER ALL DAY WHO DID IT.

AND SUNDAY, MAY 4, ANOTHER DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY!
