THE JACKSON COUNTY (REPLICA OF OLD SCHOOL) WELCOME CENTER AT SABULA IS GETTING A NEW ROOF. THE BUILDING IS 20 YEARS OLD.
THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL IS GETTING A NEW ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS SYSTEM FOR THE DOCTOR'S OFFICES. THE NEW SYSTEM WILL MAKE THE
HOSPITAL FULLY CONNECTED TO THE TWO CLINICS AND WILL HELP INCREASE
PATIENT SAFETY. BOARD PRESIDENT KEVIN BURNS SAID WHILE IT'S A LARGE
CHUNK OF MONEY ($140,000), THE BENEFIT TO THE COMMUNITY IS HUGE.
SOME EXCITEMENT AT CARDINAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
STUDENTS WERE EVACUATED FOR A HALF HOUR BECAUSE OF CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE. BLACK HILL ENERGY WAS CALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEN STUDENTS DID NOT GO BACK TO THEIR CLASSROOM BECAUSE IT WAS THE END OF SCHOOL FOR THE DAY.
ON POLICE BLOTTER....AMBER BURRIS SAID SOMEONE TOOK HER DYNO GT CHROME BIKE FROM THE MAQUOKETA PUBLIC LIBRARY TUESDAY. THE BIKE IS NOT
REGISTERED. POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA URGES PARENTS TO HAVE THEIR
BIKES REGISTERED AT THE POLICE STATION FOR A NOMINAL FEE.
LONGTIME PRESTON BUSINESS WOMAN HAZEL DRISCOLL, AGE 96, DIED
YESTERDAY AT MERCY HOSPITAL IN CLINTON. SHE AND HER LATE HUSBAND
RAN THE HARDWARE STORE DOWNTOWN FOR MANY YEARS.
THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS WON THEIR FIRST BASKETBALL GAME OF THE SEASON LAST NIGHT, HERE, DEFEATING CLEAR CREEK AMANA BY ABOUT 20 POINTS.
