ADAM HEPKER, SOPHOMORE AT MID-AMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY AT OLATHA, KANSAS (NEAR KANSAS CITY) HAS JUST COMPLETED A VERY GOOD SEASON AS THE STARTING POINT-GUARD FOR THE MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM.
THEY WERE IN THE AFTER-REGULAR-SEASON TOURNAMENT AT COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS AT BRANSON THIS WEEK AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT, WON THEIR OPENING GAME, AN UPSET, BUT THEN LOST FRIDAY'S GAME AND HAVE NOW FINISHED THE SEASON, I BELIEVE AT 23 AND 11. HE IS THE SON OF LEIGHTON AND CINDY HEPKER OF MAQUOKETA AND HIS COACH IS FORMER MAQUOKETA ATHLETE, ROCKY LAMAR.

THE BELLEVUE MARQUETTE GIRLS LOST THIER OPENING GAME AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT MONDAY, THE 4TH YEAR IN A ROW FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. IT IS NICE TO GET TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT, BUT ALWAYS NICER IF YOU CAN WIN THE FIRST GAME, AND THEN PLAY TWO MORE.

THE DEWITT BOYS WERE ONE GAME AWAY FROM THE BOYS STATE TOURNAMENT, NEXT WEEK, WHEN THEY LOST THIS PAST MONDAY NIGHT BY JUST A FEW POINTS TO A CEDAR RAPIDS TEAM.

SO, THE KMAQ-AREA ONLY HAD ONE GIRL'S TEAM AT STATE AND WILL HAVE NO BOY'S TEAM THIS YEAR.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
