THE MOVIE "NEVER STEAL ANYTHING SMALL" WAS A 1959 HIT FOR JAMES
CAGNEY. THE MANAGER OF THE PASTIME THEATRE THEN WAS JIM GRAY,
WORKING FOR "IOWA UNITED THEATRES" OF DES MOINES, OWNER OF THE
THEATRE. HIS WIFE HAD A BEAUTY SALON UPSTAIRS. HE HAD 4 CHILDREN.
HIS PROJECTIONIST WAS HOWARD BRINKER (WHO HELD THE JOB 40 YEARS, HIS ONLY LIFETIME JOB) AND THE ASST. MANAGER WAS CLAUDE BECK.
JIM WAS TRANSFERRED TO DES MOINES IN THE EARLY 1960'S. BOTH
HE AND HIS WIFE ARE NO LONGER LIVING. JULES GRAY, OLDEST, VISITED
MAQUOKETA WITH HIS WIFE YESTERDAY AND STOPPED IN. WE HAD A NICE CHAT. TWO OF HIS SIBLINGS LIVE IN DES MOINES AND THE 3RD IN FORT DODGE. JULES LIVES IN JOHNSON. HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST STUDENTS
AT THE THEN NEW BRIGG'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
