ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY IN MAQUOKETA.

INTERVIEWED 3 FIRMS TO SET UP BIDS FOR THE CLEAN-UP OF DOWNTOWN.
THE COMMITTEE WILL NOW RECOMMEND TO THE FULL COUNCIL TO
HIRE HOWARD GREEN COMPANY FOR $50,650 TO PREPARE THE BIDS AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK TO THE EPA AS A CONDITION TO RECEIVE THE $200,000 GRANT FOR THE PROJECT. HOWARD GREEN FOR THIS MONEY WILL PROVIDE
THE BID SHEETS, HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING, DO REPORTS AND OVERSEE THE CLEAN-UP.
HOWARD GREEN IN THEIR BID SAID THEIR HOPE IS FOR GETTING THINGS DONE
SO THE CLEAN-UP CAN GET STARTED BY THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER.

THE MAN KILLED IN THE AUTO ACCIDENT THURSDAY MORNING JUST
NORTH OF MAQUOKETA IS STEVEN SCHNEITER, AGE 58, OF MONTICELLO.
THE OTHER DRIVER TAKEN TO IOWA CITY BY HELICOPTER IS DARWIN LYON, AGE 75, OF MAQUOKETA. IS WAS LISTED YESTERDAY IN GOOD CONDITION.
SCHNEEITER WAS DRIVING EAST ON 63RD STREET AND DID NOT STOP FOR THE STOP SIGN AT HURSTVILLE ROAD. LYONS WAS SOUTHBOUND ON THE HURSTVILLE ROAD AND HIT THE SCHNEITER VEHICLE BROADSIDE.
