NICE DAY....AROUND 80.

A MAQUOKETA MAN, MITCHELL HOUSTON OF 1009 CARDINAL DRIVE REPORTED TO THE MAQUOKETA POLICE THAT SOMEONE BROKE THE WINDSHIELD OF HIS VEHICLE MONDAY NIGHT.

FIREWORKS THIS UPCOMING HOLIDAY:
THIS SATURDAY, AFTER THE RACES HERE IN MAQUOKETA.
SUNDAY NIGHT AT BELLEVUE.
TUESDAY NIGHT AT LAMOTTE
TUESDAY NIGHT AT GRAND MOUND.
BELLEVUE WILL HAVE THEIR HERITAGE DAYS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WITH THE PARADE SUNDAY MORNING. IT WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ.
DEWITT WILL HAVE THEIR 4TH JULY FESTIVAL THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ALSO, AND THEIR PARADE WILL BE TUESDAY MORNING AND WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ.
LAMOTTE WILL HAVE THEIR ANNUAL ONE-DAY CELEBRATION ON JULY 4TH WITH A PARADE AT 1 P.M.

THE NEW WESTGATE CENTER (NEW STRIP MALL OUT BY DICK'S SUPER MARKET) SIGN WENT UP YESTERDAY AT THE ENTRANCE. NICE. WILL TAKE A PHOTO ONE OF THESE DAYS AND PUT ON OUR WEB SITE.
STILL NO OCCUPANTS IN THE MALL, BUT THERE WILL BE SOON. THE CARPENTERS, ETC. ARE WORKING DAILY.

THE NEW HOME ON SUMMIT STREET IS LOOKING GREAT.

THE NEW 4-STORY, ALL STEEL FIRE ESCAPE FOR THE TOP FLOOR OF THE HURST HOTEL IS DONE AND IS BEING PAINTED NOW.

THE OLD KFC BUILDING IS BEING REMODELED AND PAINTED. HAS A NEW MAIN DOOR TOO. WHEN I HEAR MORE ON IT...I WILL LET YOU KNOW.

THE FAMOUS BIG 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND SALE AT BANOWETZ ANTIQUE MALL STARTS THURSDAY AND GOES THRU JULY 4TH. THEY COME FROM ALL OVER FOR IT. I WILL BE DOING REMOTE BROADCASTS FROM IT EACH DAY.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASEBALL TEAM BLEW A 9-1 LEAD LAST NIGHT AGAINST DUBUQUE SENIOR....TOUGH YEAR FOR PAT BOLLMAN'S BOYS. THEY HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE GAMES, BUT LOST MOST OF THEM.

MEANWHILE, THE GIRL'S SOFTBALL TEAM CONTINUES TO WIN.

TOMORROW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHARLIE CLASEN. AND FRIDAY, TO JERRY RASMUSSEN. AND FRIDAY ALSO TO SUE KORANDA, NOW A RESIDENT WITH HUSBAND ARNOLD DOWN IN FLORIDA.

WILLIAM BRAXTON HAMMER, AGE 30, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, DIED AT HIS HOME YESTERDAY IN FORT DODGE. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS DAUGHTER JANNA, 3 SISTERS...LORETTA GREEN, CHRISSIE BRIETBACH, AND JENNA BREITBACH ALL OF MAQUOKETA AND 2 BROTHERS, INCLUDING KENNY BRIETBACH OF MAQUOKETA AND HIS MOTHER, PAM HAMMER OF MAQUOKETA AND GRANDMOTHER RUTH HAMMER OF MAQUOKETA. ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE AND HER 3 CHILDREN OF FORT DODGE.

NO REPORT HERE TOMORROW. I , AND 45 OTHERS , ARE GOING ON A TRI-STATE TOURS BUS TO SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS, SPONSORED BY KMAQ TRAVEL....TO VISIT THE NEW HIGH-TECH ABE LINCOLN MUSEUM. HAVE HEARD AND READ A LOT ABOUT IT, SO LOOKING FORWARD TO ESCORTING THE TRIP.
