TUESDAY DAILY REPORT

NICE AGAIN TODAY....77 THE HIGH.
TOMORROW AND THROUGH THE WEEKEND, NO RAIN AND LOW  TO
MID 80'S.

A JACKSON COUNTY MAN, MIKE HUNTER, AT THE SUPERVISOR'S MEETING
THIS MORNING, SLAPPED A $100 BILL ON THE VISITOR'S TABLE AND
ASKED THE SUPEVISORS TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP EDUCATE
YOUNG ATV DRIVERS.   THERE WERE TWO BAD ATV ACCIDENTS RECENTLY IN DUBUQUE (FOUR KILLED ON ATV) AND LINN COUNTIES.
THE SUPERVISORS SAID THEY WOULD  TALK TO THE CONSERVATION
BOARD, THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE COUNTY ATTORNEY TO SEE IF
THERE WAS SOME KIND OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THEY COULD IMPLEMENT WITH THE SCHOOLS, SOMETHING LIKE THE REQUIRED COURSES NOW REQUIRED FOR YOUTH WHO WISH TO HUNT.

AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LAST NIGHT,  BRIGG'S ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL PAT BOLLMAN ASKED THE BOARD THEIR THOUGHTS ON PUTTING
SECURITY CAMERAS IN LITTLE BEAR PARK.    AFTER SOME DISCUSSION,
IT WAS DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE INSTALLATION.    THERE HAS
BEEN SOME VADALISM IN RECENT WEEKS.

A BIRTH:   A GIRL WAS BORN SUNDAY AT THE AMES HOSPITAL TO NICK AND DARLYCE SHAUL OF NEVEDA, IOWA.     MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE
RICHARD AND IRLENE STIMMEL OF MAQUOKETA.

CAROL LYNN PACKARD ELLETT, AGE 75, OF CORVALLIS DIED JULY 21 IN THAT OREGON CITY.    A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AT THE
EAST IRON HILL CEMETERY.    SHE WAS A GRADUATE OF MAQUOKETA HIGH
SCHOOL.

THE JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS HAVE OPENED HEADQUARTERS
IN THE MAIN BLOCK OF DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA AND THE REPUBLICANS
HAVE DONE SO AT WESTGATE SHOPPING MALL OFF WEST PLATT STREET.
