91 TODAY...ONE SHORT OF THE RECORD.
RAIN AND STORMS POSSIBLE TONIGHT.
COOLER TOMORROW, IN THE MID 70'S.
BIG FIRE IN MAQUOKETA THIS AFTERNOON ON PERSHING ROAD.
AN OUTBUILDING ON THE JOSH POLL PROPERTY WAS DESTROYED
BY FIRE AND FIREMEN WORKED TO SAVE A LARGER BARN NEXT TO THE
SHED. FIREMEN CAME BACK TO THE STATION AND THEN SOON AFTER, WERE CALLED BACK TO A REPORT THE LARGER BARN WAS ON FIRE.
IT IS VERY WINDY AND HARD TO FIGHT THE FIRES. AND, IT IS A "SANDY"
AREA WITH SAND BLOWING IN FIREMEN'S EYES. IT IS NOW AFTER
5 AND WHO KNOWS HOW LONG THE FIREMEN WILL BE AT THE POLL
RESIDENCE. FIRE CHIEF MARK BECK SAID HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT
STARTED THIS AFTERNOON'S FIRE ON PERSHING ROAD.
THE WIND HAS BLOWN DOWN SOME TREES AND BRANCHES THIS
AFTERNOON. ONE CITY STREET HAD TO BE CLOSED UNTIL THE
TREE LIMBS WERE CLEARED AWAY.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THE FIRST READING
OF THREE READINGS OF AN ORDINANCE WHICH WOULD ALLOW ATV'S TO RIDE ON MAIN STREET (ONLY MAIN STREET) DURING SOME SPECIFIED DAYS
THIS SUMMER.
IN DISTRICT SOCCER LAST NIGHT, DUBUQUE WAHLERT DEFEATED
MAQUOKETA 6 TO 0 TO END THE CARDINAL'S SEASON.
THANKS FOR THE VISIT.
