BEAUTIFUL 4TH OF JULY WEATHER YESTERDAY.
TODAY, ALSO NICE...HIGH OF 80.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEET MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SHORT MEETING. THE COUNCIL GAVE CITY ATTORNEY MARK LAWSON, OF BELLEVUE, A 3 PER CENT RAISE TO $26,300 IN THE NEW YEAR WHICH BEGINS SEPT 1ST. THAT'S FOR ALL PARTTIME WORK AS NEEDED BY THE CITY AND IS IN LINE WITH OTHER CITY EMPLOYEE RAISES.
ON THE RECOMENDATION OF THE COUNCIL FINANCE COMMITTEE, THE COUNCIL DECLINED AN OFFER TO TRADE SEVEN ACRES OF LAND EAST OF THE FORMER CLINTON ENGINES OFFICE BUILDING FOR THE FORMER JACK AND JILL BUILDING. THE OWER OF THE FORMER SUPER MARKET BUILDING ON WEST PLATT HAD MADE THE PROPOSAL SAYING HE WAS INTERESTED IN THE LAND FOR BUILDING SOME SENIOR HOUSING.

DEBRA GOODWIN, AGE 32, OF MAQUOKETA WAS CHARGED WITH ANIMAL NEGLECT. MAQUOKETA POLICE OFFICER DAN FURLONG SAID GOODWIN ALLOWED A CONFIEND DOG TO GO WITHOUT SUFFICIENT WATER AND FOOD FROM JUNE 1-15 AT 320 EDDY PLACE IN MAQUOKETA.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD THURSDAY IN DOVER, OHIO, FOR ALEXANDRA ROSE GATELARO, AGE 9, OF DOVER. SHE DIED SUNDAY AS THE RESULT OF INJURIES SUSTAINED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE RIDING HER BICYCLE. SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF ANTHONY AND JULIE EWING GATELARO OF DOVER. JULIE EWING GRADUATED FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.

THE MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB WILL HAVE THEIR 31ST ANNUAL BAND CONCERT AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL FOR SENIOR CITIZENS A WEEK FROM TODAY, AT THE FAIRGROUNDS, WITH MUSIC BY THE TIMBER CITY COMMUNITY BAND, DIRECTED BY JAY KAHN.
JOHN GILROY, WHO HAS AN ACCOUNTINY BUSINESS IN MAQUKETA AND LIVES IN DEWITT, IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF ROTARY. HE TOOK OVER JULY 1ST, WHEN NANCY MOORE'S ONE-YEAR TERM EXPIRED.
JENNEFER CONNOALLY CONTINUES AS SECRETARY AND ASHER SCHROEDER WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE TREASURER.

KMAQ HAS A BUS GOING TO THE CUBS-BREWERS GAME SUNDAY, IN MILWAUKEE.
TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABE.
WILL LEAVE THE FAIRGROUNDS AROUND 7 A.M.
