Strange weather day today in Maquoketa. We started off with sunshine.
Then had mid-day rain and later in afternoon, sunny and beaufiful.
High today in upper 60's. Cooler tonight and tomorrow.
Hiliary Clinton made her scheduled appearance in Maquoketa
last night. She got a nice Maquoketa welcome. See two photos I took
of her below this report.
The Maquoketa Cardinals won again Friday night, beating West Liberty there,
42 to 21. The are now 3 and 3 for the season and 2 and 2 in the District.
They play Clear Creek Amana there this Friday. Should be a good game too.
Charles Reistroffer of Maquoketa hit a deer at 7:19 last night on highway 64 West, near the Maquoketa airport. No injuries.
The Town & Country Quilters hosted a quilt show yesterday as part of the Pioneer Days event at the fairgrounds. Winner of the raffle quilt was Thais Grosskruger.
First place for embroidery butterfly quilt went to Ruth Wall. Second place called Curves in Motion went to Nettie Tracy. Third place was a flannel quilt and the winner was Pat Strait. Fourth place called quilt Diva went to Marilyn Rankin.
School Board meeting tonight.
New asphalt project is near completion on South Jones. And paving of Western Avenue began today and will take 2 weeks. With those two close by street
closed, there is a lot of traffic on the adjacent streets. It will be nice to have both open again.
A new movie, filmed in Iowa...THE FINAL SEASON...with Tom Arnold, had its premier this weekend in Iowa and opens nationwide this Friday. Supposed to be good, and a hit, and will also open this Friday here in Maquoketa. You'll want to see this true-story baseball movie, rated PG.
"The Wizard of Oz" will be presented this weekend at the Ohnward Center in Maquoketa. Tickets on sale there and at Osterhaus Pharmacy.
Have a good week...and check out the Hiliary photos below.
