87 TODAY

A MAQUOKETA MAN, JAMES YOUNGBLOOD, AGE 19, SPENT THE NIGHT IN JAIL AFTER  HIS ARREST YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.    POLICE RESPONDED TO A CALL THAT HE WAS ALLEDGEDLY SMOKING MARIJUANA AT LITTLE BEAR PARK.   HE APPEARED AT MAGISTRATE COURT THIS MORNING AND HIS COURT CASES WERE CONTINUED UNTIL JULY 19TH.   HE WAS RELEASED
ON $600 UNSECURED BOND ON ONE CHARGE AND $262 UNSECURED BOND
ON THE OTHER CHARGE.

THE MAQUOKETA YMCA HAS HIRED A NEW PROGRAM DIRECTOR TO REPLACE JAY SWENSON WHO TOOK A JOB WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF
ILLINOIS.    HIRED IS GINA PERSCHBACHER, WHO HAS WORKED IN THE PAST FOR THE ST. LOUIS CARDINAL ORGANIZATION.

A MAQUOKETA MAN REMAINS A PATIENT AT A DUBUQUE HOSPITAL MORE THAN A WEEK AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT.
DUANE HANSEN CONTINUES TO RECUPERATE AT MERCY WHERE HE
WAS TAKEN FOLLOWING THE JULY 3RD ACCIDENT IN EAST DUBUQUE.
HANSEN, AN EMPLOYEE OF BRAD DEERY MOTORS IN MAQUOKETA, WAS
DELIVERING A CAR TO A CUSTOMER WHEN HE WAS STRUCK BY A SEMI.

SETH McDERMOTT OF 211 N. DEARBORN, REPORTED TO POLICE THAT HIS 20-INCH JOHN DEERE BMS BIKE WAS STOLEN.

LAST NIGHT,  THE MAQUOKETA BOY'S BASEBALL TEAM LOST TO CLINTON
5 TO 4, TO CLOSE OUT THE REGULAR SEASON.   
THEY ENDED WITH A 25 AND 13 RECORD AND WILL PLAY THIS  FRIDAY
NIGHT IN TOURNAMENT PLAY, HOSTING DEWITT AT 7 P.M.
THAT GAME WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ.
