NEARLY AN INCH OF SNOW LAST NIGHT AGAIN..BUT ALL GONE TODAY. OUR TOTAL WAS ABOUT 2 AND A HALF INCHES THIS WEEK. IN 40'S TODAY.

AT 5:30 THIS MORNING, WHEN GETTING DRESSED, DIDN'T THINK ABOUT....TOO EARLY....WEARING SOMETHING GREEN....BUT I MADE UP FOR IT BY PLAYING ABOUT 5 GOOD IRISH SONGS THIS MORNING ON MY 6:30 TO 9 A.M. DJ SHOW ON KMAQ-FM. THE EAGLES...WHERE WE MEET FOR ROTARY...WILL HAVE A CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE SUPPER TONIGHT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
THE EAGLES IS WHERE THE 64 DRIVE-IN RESTAURANT WAS LOCATED FOR MANY YEARS...THEN CONVERTED TO THE RENDEZVOUS SUPPER CLUB....UNTIL THE EAGLES PURCHASED THE BUILDING SEVERAL YEARS AGO. AT ROTARY TODAY, A FRENCH FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT, LIVING IN NEW LIBERTY FOR A YEAR, WAS GUEST SPEAKER. HE'S IN THE ROTARY EXCHANGE PROGRAM. SHARP KID.

NANCY AND I ARE GOING TO THE SPAGETTI SUPPER TONIGHT AT THE FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH.....THEY HAVE IT BETWEEN THE 4:30 P.M. LENTEN SERVICE AND THE 7:00 P.M. SERVICE. IT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
NO CHARGE..BUT FREE WILL DONATION.

IVY WENDEL OF MAQUOKETA IS ONE OF 78 STUDENTS RECENTLY ADMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA NURSING SCHOOL. DAUGHTER OF CHUCK AND ROSE WENDEL OF MAQUOKETA. HER SISTER FARRAH, WAS A STUDENT ANNOUNCER HERE AT KMAQ ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. WONDER WHAT SHE IS DOING NOW?

CENTRAL SCHOOLS OF DEWITT HIRED A NEW SUPERINTENDENT LAST NIGHT.
SHE IS CAROL HANSEN, CURRENTLY THE SUPERINTENDENT AT ALBION, MICHIGAN....A GRADUATE OF IOWA STATE. HIRED FOR $115,000. SHE WAS ONE OF 6 FINALISTS. SHE HAS A BIG JOB AHEAD. THE DISTRICT HAS TRIED ABOUT 8 BOND ISSUES FOR NEW BUILDINGS AND ALL HAVE BEEN VOTED DOWN. FIRST, GRAND MOUND HATED TO GIVE UP THEIR SCHOOL BUILDING. THEY HAVE. NOW, WELTON IS TRYING TO HOLD ON TO ITS ELEMENTARY BUILDING. SMALL TOWNS HATE TO LEAVE GO OF THE SCHOOL IN TOWN. CAN'T BLAME THEM, BUT ITS THE TREND.

TWO VEHICLES COLLIDED ON WEST MONROE YESTERDAY...NO INJURIES.
ONE DRIVEN BY APRIL FLAGEL, 24, OF MAQUOKETA AND OTHER BY JOVAN EBERHART, 17, OF DELMAR. NO CHARGES FILED. LITTLE DAMAGE TO CARS.

BOY SCOUT TROOP 68 BREAKFAST FOR THE PUBLIC IS THIS SUNDAY AT THE VFW HALL JUST NORTH OF MAQUOKETA.
