NO DAILY REPORT TODAY
THERE WAS A FULL HOUSE YESTERDAY DURING THE WEEKLY TUESDAY NOON HOUR "BROWN BAG LUNCH" AT THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND SPONSORED BY THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.   THE
REASON....THE SPECIAL GUEST:   A JACKSON COUNTY TRUMPETER SWAN.
THE SWAN AND TWO OTHER SIBLINGS HAVE BEEN AT THE HURSTVILLE
INTERPRETIVE CENTER SINCE HATCHING LAST JUNE AND YESTERDAY,
WAS THE DAY TO RELEASE THE 3 AT GREEN ISLAND.    WE GOT TO MEET ONE YESTERDAY.    FIRST, ANN BURNS, WITH JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION, GAVE A TALK ON THE SWANS.    SHE HAS BECOME A STATE
EXPERT ON THEM,  AS THIS  WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME JACKSON COUNTY
CONSERVATION HAS RAISED AND RELEASED THEM.     THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW.     THE SWANS LIVE IN LAKES AND
PONDS AND  EAT PLANTS AND GRAINS.   THEY HAVE A WING SPAN OF
NEARLY 7 FEET AND WEIGH ABOUT 28 POUNDS.   THEY LIVE TO ABOUT 25 YEARS OF AGE.     AS  YOU WILL SEE IN THE PHOTOS I TOOK BELOW, THEY HAVE A VERY LONG, FLEXIBLE NECK.    BELOW, A PHOTO OF ANN BURNS,
AND THE SWAN HELD BY CONSERVATION VOLUNTEER BOB WALTON AND
A COUPLE KIDS WITH THE SWAN.    THERE  WERE QUITE A FEW KIDS
THERE YESTERDAY.    THE SWAN WAS QUIET AND JUST SAT AND SEEMED
TO ENJOY THE ATTENTION SHE WAS GETTING.

CLICK-ON ALL THE PHOTOS TO ENLARGE THEM.    WE ARE SO LUCKY TO
HAVE THE HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER AND THE MARSH AND
OTHER OUTDOOR FUN AND EDUCATIONAL THINGS OUTSIDE OF IT.
KIDS LOVE IT THERE.    YOU WILL TOO.   PLAN A VISIT SOON.   TAKE YOUR
OUT-OF-TOWN FAMILY AND GUESTS THERE.
FREE ADMISSION!
