17 TODAY. YES, IT'S COLD.
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MADE SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS THIS MORNING.
DR. DON YANDA WAS APPOINTED TO THE JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD REPLACING ANNE HAWKS WHO DID NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION TO
A FIVE YEAR TERM. THERE WERE FOUR APPLICANTS.
ALSO NAMED TO THE CONSERVATION BOARD, NEW SUPERVISOR LARRY McDEVITT (REPRESENTING THE BOARD) TO REPLACE STEVE FLYNN WHO RETIRES DECEMBER 31ST AS A SUPERVISOR. McDEVITT WON THE
ELECTION TO THE BOARD IN NOVEMBER.
THE SUPERVISORS ALSO ARE LOOKING AT SEVERAL WAYS TO FIRM-UP
SECURITY IN THE NEW YEAR AT THE COURT HOUSE. MORE ON THAT
ON A LETER DAILY REPORT.
KMAQ'S NEW "NEWS DIRECTOR" IS CODY BARNES FROM WYOMING, IOWA.
MORE ON HIM AND A PHOTO LATER THIS WEEK. HE HAS ALREADY
STARTED WORKING. IN ADDITION TO NEWS, HE WILL ALSO BE ON-THE-
AIR AS A MORNING ANNOUNCER FOR AN HOUR EARLY EACH MORNING
ON KMAQ-FM STATION. SHERI MELVOLD'S LAST DAY IS TOMORROW.
SHERI AND I HAVE HAD A GOOD WORK RELATIONSHIP HERE AT KMAQ OVER 17 YEARS AND I WILL MISS THAT. SHE HAS WRITTEN THOUSANDS
OF NEWS STORIES AND INTERVIEWED HUNDREDS OF CITIZENS.
AND SHE WILL BE DOING SOME PART TIME NEWS WRITING FOR LOCAL
AND AREA PAPERS IN THE FUTURE. BEFORE KMAQ, NEWSPAPER WRITING WAS HER GAME, STARTING IN ARIZONA AND THEN HERE IN IOWA. I HIRED HER TO START THE "JUST TALK" SHOW, WHICH SHE DID IN 1997 AND WHEN A LITTLE LATER WE HAD THE NEWS JOB OPEN UP, SHE APPLIED FOR THAT AND MOVED UP TO FULL TIME IN 1998. MY BEST TO HER IN 2015.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
COME BACK FOR THE FINAL DAILY REPORT OF 2014 TOMORROW.
