NICE TODAY...HIGH OF 79

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEMBERS DECIDED
LAST NIGHT TO REVIEW ALL OF THE CITY'S SNOW REMOVAL POLICIES.
AND...THEY DECIDED TO NOT RECOMMEND TO THE ENTIRE COUNCIL THAT
THE CITY GO BACK TO ODD-EVEN PARKING. ODD-EVEN PARKING WAS
ABANDONED IN THE EARLY 1990'S.
AN INTERESTING THING BROUGHT UP BY PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DAVE POPP WAS THAT HIS CREWS CAN PLOW A FOUR-INCH SNOWFALL IN 12 HOURS THROUGHOUT
THE CITY. AND POPP SAID HE DOESN'T HAVE A PROBLEM PLOWING THE
CITY STREETS WITH CARS ON EITHER SIDE.

MAQUOKETA POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO DUMPED OIL DOWN
THE CATCH BASIN IN THE 100 BLOCK OF NORTH CLARK STREET. OIL CANNOT
BE DUMPED INTO THE CITY'S STORMSEWER SYSTEM. THE INCIDENT WAS
REPORTED BY DAVE POPP THIS MORNING. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION
ABOUT ILLEGAL DUMPING IS ASKED TO CALL CRIME STOPPERS AT 652-2212.

ON THE STORK REPORT, A BOY WAS BORN MONDAY IN SAN ANTONIO TO PAULA
AND SHAWN WALSH. MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE PAUL AND DIANE
BRADY OF MAQUOKETA. THE BABY'S DAD, MAJOR SHAWN WALSH, IS SERVING IN IRAQ AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET HOME FOR THE BIRTH OF HIS SON.
HE HAS TO DEPLOY AGAIN TO IRAQ SEPTEMBER 22ND.

SAW MEL STILES AT THE BAKERY THIS AFTERNOON. RAN STILES CLEANERS
YEARS AGO. NOW 92, STILL DRIVES HIS CAR, LIVES IN HIS HOME ALONE (BERNICE DIED YEARS AGO) AND LOOKS GOOD. LOOKING FORWARD TO AN HONOR TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C. NO DATE YET. HE CLOSED HIS BUSINESS IN 1974, RETIRED, AND
THE VOY 2 THEATRE WENT INTO THE BUILDING AND OPENED IN 1975, NEXT TO THE VOY 1. GOOD SEEING AND TALKING TO MEL.'

HAVE A GOOD WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY.
