MOSTLY SUNNY, LESS WINDY AND 64 THE HIGH TODAY.      RAIN POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.    MOTHER'S DAY, NO RAIN, PARTLY SUNNY AND NEAR 60.

LAST SATURDAY, THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL PROM KING WAS MICHAEL TABOR AND THE PROM QUEEN, BROOKLYN KORANDA.

THE HOSPITAL BOARD HELD A SPECIAL MEETING THIS AFTERNOON AND VOTED TO BEGIN NEGOTIATIONS FOR A LETTER OF INTENT TO AFFILIATE THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL WITH GENESIS HEALTH SYSTEM OF DAVENPORT.   THEY BOARD VOTED TO TERMINATE THE MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH FINLEY  HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE EFFETIVE JUNE 30TH AND TO START NEGOTIATIONS FOR A LETTER OF INTENT WITH GENESIS FOR A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT TO BEGIN JULY 1.       THE HOSPITAL
HAS HAD AN AFFILIATION AGREEMENT WITH FINELEY FOR ABOUT 8 YEARS.
KEVIN BURNS, BOARD PRESIDENT, CALLED THE ACTION A POSITIVE STEP FOR
MAQUOKETA'S HOSPITAL.     CEO CURT COLEMAN SAID THERE WILL BE NO DAY-TO-DAY OPERATONS CHANGES.    THE NAME WILL REMAIN THE SAME AND COLEMAN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE AS ADMINISTRATOR.    THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL OPENED MAY 16,1950 AND TODAY IS A 25-BED HOSPITAL OFFERING A WIDE RANGE OF INPATIENT, OUTPATIENT, EMERGENCY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES.     GENESIS IS A 140-YEAR-OLD SYSTEM.   THE HOSPITAL IN DEWITT IS ALSO ONE OF MANY OTHER HOSPITALS AFFILIATED WITH GENESIS.

NOMINATED FOR THREE 2010 TONY AWARDS.    GOOGLE THE APPOLO THEATRE IN CHICAGO FOR MORE ABOUT THE SHOW, FEATURING MANY GREAT SONGS OF THE 50'S.     THE BUS IS ALREADY HALF-FULL AND LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE THINKING ABOUT GOING BUT HAVE NOT SIGNED-UP YET.   

THE NEW MOVIE "IRON MAN 2" OPENS AT ONE MINUTE AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT
AT THE VOY 3 THEATRE AND ALSO THE 61 DRIVE-IN THEATRE SOUTH OF
MAQUOKETA.     YOU'LL BE HEARING A LOT ABOUT THIS MOVIE BETWEEN NOW AND THE END OF THE WEEKEND.

BULLETIN:     THE DECKER HOTEL HAS BEEN SOLD!       WHEN AT COFFEE THERE THIS MORNING,  TROY THEDE'S MOTHER JOINED US AT COFFEE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND SAID THE NEW OWNER IS IN THE BUILDING AND THAT TROY, RAEANN AND THE TWO BOYS WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE IN MAQUOKETA.          TROY IS ALSO A PART-OWNER OF THE COMFORT  INN MOTEL AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF MAQUOKETA AND RAEANN HAS A JEWELRY BUSINESS.      I TALKED TO TROY LATE THIS MORNING AND HE SAID HE WOULD GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION, INCLUDING WHO THE NEW OWNER IS, TOMORROW, FRIDAY.

THIS IS THE SCENE LOOKING NORTH THIS MORNING.    I TOOK THIS    STANDING UNDER THE CORNER BUILDING THAT WILL COME DOWN THIS SUMMER.   THEY ARE
CUTTING HOLES RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF  MAIN STREET TODAY.    PLUS, OTHER
WORKERS ARE HAULING AWAY DEBRIS, SO CLEAN-UP WORK IS ALSO IN PROGRESS
AGAIN TODAY.
