NICE SATURDAY AFTERNOON YESTERDAY AND SO NANCY AND I DECIDED TO
DRIVE UP TO NORTHERN JACKSON COUNTY.     JULIE DELANEY GAVE A
TALK AT THE KMAQ FARM AND HOME SHOW ABOUT THEIR (HUSBAND, MIKE)
ALPACA FARM AND AS I LISTENED, I KNEW I HAD TO VISIT IT.     ABOVE, THE RESTORED 3-STORY 1860 BARN WHERE WE SPENT MOST OF THE HOUR.
AS  YOU'LL SEE BLOW, IT IS NEAT AND FILLED WITH ALPACA PRODUCTS.
IT IS OPEN FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS, BUT IF PLANNING A VISIT, CALL AHEAD
FOR THE HOURS YOU HAD IN MIND:   563-543-1375.      MIKE AND JULIE
(McANDRWS) ARE ANDREW NATIVES, GOT INTO THE ALPAC BUSINESS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND ALREADY, THEIR "IRISH MEADOWS ALPACA FARM"
IS WELL KNOW THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY FOR TOP BREED ALPACAS.
THE ABOVE BUILDING IS ONE OF SEVERAL ON THE BEAUTIFUL FARM,
INCLUDING THEIR LARGE HOME FOR THE FAMILY, WHICH INCLUDES 3 CHILDREN.    THE FARM IS ON 23477 BELLEVUE-CASCADE ROAD.    AT THE OTTER CREEK CONVENIENCE STATION ON 4-LANE 61, TURN EAST AND GO ABOUT 3 MILES  AND  YOU WILL COME UPON THE FARM ON THE RIGHT.    IT IS A RURAL LAMOTTE  ADDRESS.     WE BOUGHT SOME APALCA SOCKS  AND TOOK A FINAL PICTURE OF SOME ALPACAS NEAR THEIR BARN AND LEFT THINKING..."ANOTHER GREAT FEATURE OF BEAUTIFUL JACKSON COUNTY".
OH YES...THEY HAVE A GREAT WEB SITE!   GOOGLE IRISH MEADOWS, LAMOTTE !
(CLICK-ON THE PHOTOS TO ENLARGE THEM)

THAT IS JULIE IN THE GRAY ALPACA SWEATER ABOUT 5 PHOTOS UP.   BABY ALPACAS ARE BORN ON THEIR FARM  EVERY MONTH EXCEPT DECEMBER,
JANUARY AND FEBRUARY....TOO COLD AT IRISH MEADOWS THEN AND THIS IS INTERESTING....JULIE SAYS THE ALPACA MOM, UNLIKE OTHER MOTHER ANIMALS, DOES NOT LICK HER NEW BORN BABY.    ONE MORE THING, THE ONLY TIME VISITORS CAN GO VIEW THE ALPACAS DOWN IN THEIR BARN
IS IN THE FALL, SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER.     AND YES...FOR THE KIDS
THEY HAVE ALPACA TEDDY BEARS!
