MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY AND HIGH OF 25.....FORECAST PRETTY DESCENT FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

THE NEW YMCA POOL HEATER IS CAUSING PROBLEMS.   IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED ONCE ALREADY AT A COST OF$1,355.     AND SAME PROBLEM MAY OCCUR AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS.    THE PROBLEM MAY BE IN THE DESIGN AS THE HEATER APPARENTLY GET INADEQUATE AIR IN THE SYSTEM.      YMCA PROPERTY MANAGER TOM DEVINE
TOLD CITY COUNCIL THAT THEY  HAVE FOUND AN ALTERNATE SYSTEM WHICH MAY SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND T HE ESTIMATED COST WOULD BE $24,000.

THE MAQUOKETA PD IS INVESTIGATING THE THEFT OF 500 POUNDS OF COPPER WIRE AT THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC'S DISTRIBUTION CENTER.    THE USED COPPER WAS TAKEN OVERNIGHT.

THE CITY IS STILL NEEDING ANOTHER BOARD MEMBER FOR THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY BOARD.      STEVE KLECKER SHOWED INTEREST, WAS APPOINTED IN JANUARY BUT NOW CAN NOT SERVE AS HE IS MOVING TO DEWITT.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE VOLUNTEER JOB ARE AVAILABLE AT CITY HALL.
AN INTERESTING BOARD FOR SOMEONE.

THE COUNTY IS HAVING AN INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC MEETING TONIGHT AT CITY HALL FOR INPUT FOR THE NEW 5-YEAR ROAD PLAN FOR THECOUNTY.

NEW DISTRICT FOOTBALL ASSIGNMENTS WERE ANNOUNED YESTERDAY.
STARTING WITH HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL THIS FALL,  MAQUOKETA WILL BE
IN CLASS 3-A DISTRICT 5.     THE DISTRICT ALSO INCLUDES DEWITT, ANAMOSA,
MARION, UNION LAPORTE CITY, VINTON-SHELLSBURGH, WESTERN DUBUQUE AND CENTER POINT URBANA.   WESTERN DUBUQUE AND CENTER POINT WILL BE NEW IN THE DISTRICT REPLACING BENTON COMMUNITY AND MT.VERNON.   THEY MOVED TO DISTRICT 6.   

BASKETBALL HERE LAST NIGHT, WESTERN DUBUQUE BOYS BEAT MAQUOKETA 56 TO 38.  THE CARDINALS PLAYED WITHOUT TWO STARTERS.   ALEX DUHME AND
TYLER RUTENBECK QUIT THE TEAM MONDAY NIGHT.   RUTENBECK WAS MAQUOKETA'S LEADING SCORER.    THE CARDS ARE NOW 8 AND 7 IN THE WAMAC.
COLLIN NICKESON LED MAQUOKETA WITH 13 POINTS.      THE CARDS HAVE 4 FINAL GAMES, ALL AWAY AND THEN TOURNAMENTS.    
MEANWHILE, THE GIRLS UP IN EPWORTH, BEAT WESTERN DUBUQUE
LAST NIGHT, 39 TO 31.   KELSEY HOLMES LED THE CARDS WITH 19 POINTS AND THEY ARE NOW 7 AND 9 IN THE CONFERENCE..

THE WRESTLERS TOMORROW NIGHT WRESTLE AT CEDAR RAPIDS, AGAINST
XAVIER AND KENNEDY .. A DOUBLE DUAL .. WITH THE CARDINALS IN THE 2ND AND 3RD MEETS OF THE NIGHT.
