AT THE REQUEST OF THE GOVERNOR, HOOVER HAS BEEN ASKED TO SHARE HIS THOUGHTS ABOUT BRANSTAD'S PROPOSAL TO TAKE SOME OF THE
STATE'S 1 PERCENT SALES TAX REVENUES AWAY FROM SCHOOL INFRASTRACTURE AND USE IT TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY. HOOVER SAID TODAY HE IS NOT OPPOSED TO GOOD WATER QUALITY BUT IS FEARFUL THAT THERE COULD BE MORE REQUESTS FOR OTHER USES OF THE TAX MONEY, THEREFORE SHORTING IOWA SCHOOLS OF NEEDED FUNDS TO MAKE REPAIRS TO AGING SCHOOL BUILDINGS. THE MEETING TOMORROW AT 3 P.M. WILL LAST 30 MINUTES AND THE MAQUOKETA DISTRICT BUSINESS MANAGER CHRISTY HAXMEIER WILL ALSO SIT IN ON THE MEETING.
