ANOTHER HOT AND HUMID DAY IN MAQUOKETA.
89 YESTERDAY, ALMOST THAT TODAY AND EXPECTING ONE MORE HOT DAY TOMORROW, THEN COOLING FOR THE WEEKEND AGAIN.

I DID A BROADCAST FROM THE JONES COUNTY FAIR LAST NIGHT, AN ALTHOUGH HOT, THEY HAD A GREAT SNEAK-PREVIEW NIGHT....AND TODAY, IS THE FIRST OF 5 FULL DAYS OF FUN IN MONTICELLO.

JUST GOT BACK FROM THE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR THE NEW TACO JOHNS RESTAURANT ON WEST PLATT STREET IN MAQUOKETA.      MAYOR TOM MESSERLI  CUT THE RIBBON AND THEN EVERYONE HAD A TOUR AND ENJOYED  SAMPLES.           BEAUTIFUL PLACE INSIDE AND ATTRACTIVE OUTSIDE TOO....TACO JOHN'S NEWEST  DESIGN.      SITS NEARLY 70 AND HAS A LARGE PAVED PARKING LOT AND DRIVE-UP WINDOW AND WILL BE OPEN MORNINGS AT 6:30 FOR BREAKFAST AND OPEN EACH NIGHT UNTIL 11 OR 1 AM ON  WEEEKENDS.  BIG MENU.      IT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC THIS FRIDAY AND WILL EMPLOY NEARLY 50.

THE CITY COUNCIL HAS DECIDED TO BUILD SIDEWALKS ON THE EAST SIDE OF SOUTH MAIN STREET, AT A COST OF $30,000....MONEY FROM THE CITY'S SIDEWALK FUND.      THE WALK PROBABLY WON'T BE COMPLETED UNTIL NEXT YEAR.      THE NEW SIDEWALK WILL RUN FROM SUMMIT STREET DOWN THE EAST SIDE OF THE STREET TO THE SUNRISE RESTAURANT, ACROSS FROM HORSESHOE POND PARK.       IT WILL HELP GETS KIDS TO AND FROM THE DAIRY QUEEN IN THAT AREA.

AND THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY.....

FROM MAQUOKETA, THE HOME OF THE CHURRO.

WHAT'S A CHURRO YOU SAY?

MAQUOKETANS WILL SOON FIND OUT!

IT'S A REAL MEXICAN DESSERT...ROLLED IN CINNAMON-SUGAR.   JUST 99-CENTS...AT TACO JOHNS.

MUEY BIEN!     (DON'T THINK I SPELLED THAT CORRECTLY.)    IT MEANS VERY GOOD, IN SPANISH.
