SATURDAY NIGH WAS COUNTRY MUSIC NIGHT ONCE AGAIN
AT MOONEY HOLLOW BARN
AT GREEN ISLAND, HERE IN
JACKSON COUNTY AND NANCY AND I HAD A FUN NIGHT WITH
A NEAR FULL HOUSE OF COUNTRY MUSIC FANS. THE STAR WAS MOE BANDY SHOWN HERE IN THE BLACK HAT, WITH
HIS 6-PIECE AMERICANA BAND.
FIRST, AT 7 P.M. WE WERE
ENTERTAINED BY RUSS HAYWARD AND JACKSON COUNTY'S POPULAR BAND,
"COUNTY TRADITION" WITH
MAQUOKETA'S OWN SANDY MANUEL ON THE DRUMS. THEY HAVE A GREAT SOUND AND WILL BE THE OPENING BAND FOR THE COUNTRY SHOW
AT THE FAIR THIS JULY, HAVING WON THE BATTLE OF BANDS EVENT AT THE
FAIRGROUNDS A WEEK AGO. MOE AND HIS BAND TOOK TO THE STAGE AT 8 AND
WENT FOR 90 MINUTES. HE HAS MANY HITS, HIS BIGGEST BEING "AMERICANA" AND HIS SECOND BIGGEST BEING "BANDY THE RODEO CLOWN". HE HAS HAD
A SHOW IN BRANSON FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS, BUT IS ON TOUR NOW UNTIL HE
STARTS UP AGAIN IN BRANSON IN MAY. I TALKED TO HIM AFTER THE SHOW AND GOT HIS NEWEST CD TO PLAY ON KMAQ.
QUITE A FEW OTHER PHOTOS I TOOK THIS WEEKEND BELOW. AS ALWAYS, CLICK-ON
EACH PHOTO TO ENLARGE IT.

THE MOONEY HOLLOW BARN
IS JACKSON COUNTY'S ANSWER TO THE "RYMAN THEATRE" IN NASHVILLE, HOME OF THE
GRAND OLE OPRY FOR MANY, MANY YEARS. IT IS LOCATED
ON HIGHWAY 52 ABOUT HALF-WAY BETWEEN SABULA AND BELLEVUE. YOU CAN'T MISS IT. THE SILO HAS A GIANT
FIDDLE PAINTED ON IT.
THERE IS A BAR DOWNSTAIRS
AND YOU GO UPSTAIRS TO
THE 400 OR MORE SEAT THEATRE. JACKSON COUNTY IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE A GUY LIKE KEVIN PETESCH BRINGING BIG COUNTRY ENTERTAINERS TO ENJOY AT HIS PLACE. BILL ANDERSON WAS THERE A COUPLE YEARS AGO,
AND GENE WATSON LAST YEAR. HE HAS MORE COMING IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
