THE JACKSON COUNTY FAIRBOARD IS GOING TO OPERATE THE STOCK
CAR RACES THIS SEASON IN MAQUOKETA AND HAVE HIRED SCOTT SCHURBON OF MAQUOKETA AS THEIR RACE DIRECTOR.    HE WILL TAKE OVER RESPONSIBILITIES OF OVERSEEING THE RACING PROGRAM WITH THE FAIRBOARD BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR FOOD, CONCESSIONS AND STAFFING
FOR THE  ADMISSION GATES.   THE NEW ARRANGEMENT REPLACES DARKSIDE PROMOTIONS THAT RAN THE RACES THE LAST FEW  YEARS.
SCHURBON HAS RACED AT THE TRACK, TO BE RENAMED MAQUOKETA SPEEDWAY,  FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS.   HE WILL HAVE A MEETING FOR
ALL INTERESTED IN RACING THIS YEAR, ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27TH AT 7 P.M. AT THE FAIRGROUNDS.

REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE CARLY FIORINA WILL BE IN MAQUOKETA NEXT WEDNESDAY, AT FLAPJACK RESTAURANT, FROM 5:30  UNTIL 6:30 P.M.    SHE IS  THE FORMER C.E.O. OF HEWLETT PACKARD AND IN THE POLLS, IS AROUND 4%.

OPEN YET.
 BEAUTY SHOP, NOT YET OPEN....LOCATED ACROSS FROM MAYBERRY APPLIANCE.
FUTURE HOME (RUMOR) OF A COFFEE SHOP ACROSS THE STREET FROM
THE THEATRE.
STOREFRONT NEXT TO THE $1-$2 STORE DOWNTOWN GETTING NEW FRONT
AND HAS BEEN VACANT, BUT WILL BE FOR RENT.    THE BACK PART IS THE
REPAIR SHOP AND STORE ROOM FOR MAYBERRY APPLIANCE STORE AND
THIS BUILDING IS OWNED BY JIM AND SUE.   FRONT PORTION OF  STORE
WILL BE  FOR RENT.

IN SPORTS...THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOST
THEIR 3RD GAME IN A ROW LAST NIGHT AGAINST WESTERN DUBUQUE,
THERE, 67 TO 50.     ABE KINRADE HAS 20 POINTS.

THE CARDINAL BOWLERS,HERE, LAST NIGHT DEFEATED CASCADE, IN
BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS COMPETITION.   ZACH LANNING HAD THE TWO-GAME
HIGH OF 467.   FOR THE GIRLS, KELSEY DODDS WAS BEST BOWLER
WITH A 419 SCORE.

TONIGHT, THE BOWLERS HOST MARION INDIANS AT 7 P.M.

IN A DOUBLE DUAL MEET AT SOLON LAST NIGHT, THE CARDINAL WRESTLERS DEFEATED WOODWARD GRANGER, 38 TO 34
AND THEN LOST TO SOLON 42 TO 29.

THE CARDINAL GIRLS HOST WESTERN DUBUQUE TONIGHT...VARSITY
BASKETBALL GAME AT 7:30.
