THE NEWEST ALLEY IN THE  UNITED STATES IS OPEN AND BEING USED TODAY,
LOOKING NORTH ON THE NEW ALLEY.    DOESN'T IT LOOK GOOD?
ALONG WITH THE NEW ALLEY, KMAQ'S 5-SPACE PARKING LOT.
ENJOYING THE NEW PARKING SPACE, MY RED CAR, BUT HURTING A LITTLE SINCE
BEING BRUISED BY A BIG DEAR NEAR ANDREW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.

I KNOW....AN EXCITING MONDAY DAILY....BUT SOMETIMES IT IS A LITTLE HARD
TO COME UP WITH DAILY PHOTO(S).

SUNDAY DAILY

FIREBALL....PUT ON LAST NIGHT BY THE MAQUOKETA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT IN  THE GREEN SPACE DOWNTOWN....WAS A HUGH SUCCESS!
I WAS THERE TWICE FOR A BEER AND BURGER AND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES.
AT 10 LAST NIGHT, THE CROWD WAS SO LARGE, ONE COULD HARDLY WALK AROUND.
THIS PHOTO EARLY RIGHT AFTER OPENING AT 5.
THIS WAS THE OPENING BAND, THE MATT MCPHERSON BAND.     NOTE THE BIG STAGE BROUGHT IN FOR THE BANDS.
 AT 9 P.M. THE BREAKFAST CLUB TOOK TO THE STAGE,     A GREAT BAND.


























THE SOUND SYSTEM WAS TERRIFIC!    I COUNTED 11 BARTENDERS AND NEARLY
THAT MANY IN THE FOOD STAND.    FIREMEN ALL HAD SPECIAL SHIRTS FOR THE
NIGHT SO WE KNEW WHO THEY WERE AND COULD SEE THE HARD WORK THEY
WERE DOING.  
ADMISSION JUST $5 ... YES..ONLY $5,
AND AFTER MIDNIGHT, THE FIREMEN CLEARED THE GREEN SPACE....THE STAGE
WAS GONE EARLY THIS MORNING .. THE FENCE GONE ..JUST A FEW THINGS
TO DO SUNDAY MORNING.
THE FIREMEN KNOW HOW TO THROW A FIRST CLASS BASH!!  THANKS GUYS!
AND THANKS FIREGALS TOO.

IT WAS A VERY BUSY NIGHT FOR ENTERTAINMENT IN KMAQ-LAND......

      MUCH OF IT, FEATURING JAMIE O'NEAL AND MICHELLE WRIGHT BOTH FROM
      NASHVILLE.

4/   THE STOCK CAR RACES HERE IN TOWN AT FAIRGROUNDS
5/   THE CLINTON COUNTY FAIR AT DEWITT
6/   THJE CEDAR COUNTY FAIR AT TIPTON
7/   THE WYOMING FAIR AT WYOMING
8/   "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3" AT THE 61 DRIVE-IN SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA

COMING THIS FRIDAY TO THE VOY THEATRE DOWNTOWN AND TO THE 61 DRIVE-IN THEATRE.

LAST FRIDAY NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL
BOYS BASEBALL TEAM LOST A DOUBLE-HEADER TO
WEST DELAWARE, 10 TO 0 AND 9 TO 3.    THE
CARDS ARE NOW 3 AND 33 OVERALL AND 3 AND 27 IN
THE WAMAC.    THEY PLAY THIS FRIDAY NIGHT IN A DISTRICT GAME AT 7 P.M. AGAINST DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION AT THE CARDINAL DIAMOND.

SUNDAY DAILY

ATTENDED CHURCH TODAY AT THIS LITTLE COUNTRY CHURCH A FEW MILES NORTH OF MAQUOKETA JUST OFF HIGHWAY 61.      11 A.M. SERVICE AND POTLUCK DINNER
AFTER AT NOON.
TODAY'S PASTOR WAS ED BRIGGS OF MAQUOKETA.    THAT'S  MATT WALKER AT THE
PIANO IN CORNER, GRANDSON OF RED HENTON ANDA RESIDENT OF CEDAR RAPIDS.
PASTOR BRIGGS BROUGHT ALONG HIS GUITAR AND HIS WIFE TOOK TO THE PIANO
AND THEY SANG A NICE HYMN.    HE ALSO CONDUCTS SERVICES AT EAST IRON
HILL CHURCH.    THE FULTON CHURCH HAS A SERVICE TWICE A MONTH.     OPEN TO
ALL...NON-DENOMINATIONAL.


FOR SUPPER LAST NIGHT, WE  ENJOYED A BEEF AND PORK DINNER AT SUGAR
CREEK.    PROBABLY THE BEST CHURCH SUPPER IN THE KMAQ AREA.    I'VE BEEN
TO MANY.    OVER 15 HOME-MADE PIES TO CHOOSE FROM.


WE GO INSIDE THIS OLD SCHOOL FOR THE MEAL AND PIES.    SCHOOL NO LONGER
USED, EXCEPT FOR THIS BIG ANNUAL SUMMER LAWN SOCIAL.    
MUSIC EACH YEAR BY FAMOUS MAMA J
GOOD MUSIC
AND THAT'S THE BEAUTIFUL CHURCH.
GREAT PEOPLE AT ST. JOSEPH'S.
THANKS FOR PUTTING ON THIS SPECIAL SOCIAL EACH SUMMER.

LET'S SEE...THRESHER'S MEAL AT MILES  SATURDAY....POTLUCK DINNER THIS NOON AT FULTON....AND THE SUPPER TONIGHT AT SUGAR CREEK.....LOTS OF FOOD (TOO MUCH) DURING THE WEEKEND.   BUT IT WAS ALL SOOO GOOD!     WILL HAVE
TO EAT LESS THIS WEEK AGAIN, BEFORE JUMPING ON THE SCALE.

ROBERT MILLIKEN OF MAQUOKETA WON THE NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS IN 1923
MAQUOKETA IS ONE OF A FEW CITIES WITH WEEKLY STOCK CAR RACES.
I  DON'T KNOW THE PROMOTER AS HE DOES NOT ADVERTISE ON KMAQ.
HE DOES NOT ADVERTISE WITH ME EITHER, BUT HE GENERATES A LOT OF MONEY
IN JACKSON COUNTY.





ANT-MAN STARTS TONIGHT AT THE VOY THEATRE.


ON HIGHWAY 64 WEST, SEEN BY MOTORISTS COMING TO MAQUOKETA FROM THE
WEST.

NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT AT OHNWARD.   WILL BE A GREAT SHOW.



THEY STARTED REMODELING THIS WEEK AT MAQUOKETA STATE BANK
NEXT DOOR.    JUST THESE 3 GIRLS WOKING IN THE NORTHEAST CORNER.
BEHIND THE SHEET AT RIGHT.....




THE ALLEY BEHIND KMAQ IS DONE.   OPENS MONDAY.   CASEL CONSTRUCTION
STARTED TODAY WORKING ON THE KMAQ 5 PARKING SPACES BEHIND THE
BUILDING.   CONCRETE WILL BE POURED TOMORROW OR MONDAY.     LEFT
TO RIGHT:   ERIC PETERSEN, OWNER CASIE CASEL, ALEX TRENZ AND JORDAN
RAPP.    THE REBAR WORK NEARLY COMPLETED IN THIS PHOTO.   WILL BE
NICE TO GET MY PARKING SPACE BACK ALONG WITH THE GARAGE WHEN IT
IS RAINING.
