ST. REP. BRIAN MOORE FROM BELLEVUE ANNOUNCED ON KMAQ "JUST
TALK" SHOW TODAY THAT HE WILL RETIRE FROM THE HOUSE AFTER THIS YEAR'S SESSION. HE IS IN HIS 6TH YEAR OF THREE 2-YEAR TERMS.
HE REPRESENTS ALL OF JACKSON COUNTY AND SMALL PORTIONS OF
JONES AND DUBUQUE COUNTIES. HE HAS BEEN A SUPPORTER OF "TERM LIMITS", SAYING 12 YEARS IS ENOUGH. HE SAID FAMILY MATTERS
ENTERED INTO HIS DECISION. THREE OF HIS CHILDREN HAVE GONE
THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL DURING HIS TIME IN DES MOINES AND HE
HAD TO MISS MANY OF THEIR ACTIVITIES. HIS YOUNGEST IS CURRENTLY A FRESHMAN AT MARQUETTE IN BELLEVUE. HE SAID HE ENJOYED
REPRESENTING CITIZENS OF THE 58TH DISTRICT AND WOULD NOT RULE
OUT A RETURN TO THE POLITICAL ARENA IN THE FUTURE.
LARRY KOOS OF LAMOTTE HAS BEEN RE-ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS. HE IS IN HIS 12TH YEAR
ON THE BOARD.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL HAS RETAINED THE SERVICES OF THE LAW FIRM OF AHLERS AND COONEY TO ASSIST THE CITY WITH THE DOWNTOWN
STREET PROJECT. THE CITY HAS AGREED TO PAY THE FIRM JUST OVER
$9,000 FOR THE FEE FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE IN SECURING $4.5 MILLION IN
G.O. BONDS.
GLEN "RED" HENTON, AGE 95, IS RETIRING FROM ENTERTAINMENT BOOKINGS IN THE AREA. HE WILL NOT BE ON STAGE "MAKING MUSIC MEMORIES" AT THIS YEAR'S KMAQ FARM AND HOME SHOW. WE HAVE
HAD ANNUAL SHOWS OUT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS SINCE THE 1980'S AND
HE'S BEEN THERE EVERY YEAR, WITH POPULAR COUNTRY AND POP HITS
FROM THE PAST 5 DECADES. WE WILL MISS HIS SINGING, BUT I'M,
SURE HE WILL BE ATTENDING THE SHOW EACH DAY AS A SPECTATOR
AND VISITING WITH HIS MANY FRIENDS. HE COULD STILL DO IT IF
HE WANTED TO....JUST WANTS TO RETIRE. RED HAS DONE LOTS OF
SINGING ON KMAQ SINCE KMAQ WENT ON-THE-AIR IN 1958.
RED WILL BE 96 THIS SEPTEMBER. FULTON, IOWA'S MOST FAMOUS
CITIZEN.
