YESTERDAY AND LAST NIGHT...WE WERE HIT BY HIGH WINDS, WHICH CAUSED SOME PROBLEMS, BUT NOTHING MAJOR IN MAQUOKETA. TODAY, NOT QUITE AS WINDY AND A HIGH OF 25. WE ARE EXPECTING TO GO DOWN TO AROUND 6-9 ABOVE TONIGHT. FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR...THAT'S COLD.
STILL NO SNOW ON THE GROUND.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL BOY'S BASKETBALL TEAM LOST TO DEWITT FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY, MAQUOKETA FINISHED 3RD IN THE ZIMMERMAN WRESTLING TOURNAMENT AT THE MCHS GYM.

AN IOWA CITY WOMAN, AGE 31, HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM HER 99 TOYOTA SUV AT ABOUT 7 THIS MORNING NORTH OF MAQUOKETA NEAR FULTON. THE RESCUE SQUAD HAD TO TEAR THE ROOF OFF THE VEHICLE TO FREE HER AND SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. THE DEPUTY SAID HER INJURIES WERE NOT LIFE THREATENING. SHE WAS DRIVING NORTH ON HIGHWAY 61 AND APPARENTLY HER TIRE BLEW AND THE TOYOTA LEFT THE ROAD AND FLIPPED END OVER END INTO THE DITCH.

A MAQUOKETA MAN WAS CAUGHT WITH SOME TOOLS HE ALLEGEDLY TOOK FROM CONNELL SUPPLY COMPANY IN MAQUOKETA. CORY HOOVER, 22, WAS CHARGED WITH BURGLARY IN THE 3RD DEGREE AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHENALIA. THE ARREST AROUND 2 AM SATURDAY.

MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

JACKIE LANE, AGE 72, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS MORNING AT HER H OME AFTER A LONG ILLNESS.
SHE WORKED AT CARSON PHARMACY AND BOB'S AUTO BEFORE RETIRING.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, ROBERT "RED" LANE, 2 SONS, BOB LANE, JR. OF MAQUOKETA AND KEN LANE OF MAQUOKETA....3 GRANDCHILDREN, 1 STEP-SON AND A SISTER, MAXINE COUNTRYMAN OF MAQUOKETA.
