BEEN OUT TO BLUFF LAKE CATFISH FARM LATELY?
NEWCOMERS....DRIVE THROUGH THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK AND TAKE FIRST GRAVEL ROAD TO THE LEFT.
FOR YEARS IT HAS BEEN ONE OF EASTERN IOWA'S MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS, SITUATED OVER A SMALL LAKE, AT THE END OF A WINDING, HILLY GRAVEL ROAD THAT PASSES THROUGH A FARM YARD. WE WERE THERE FRIDAY NIGHT. I HAD THEIR FRIDAY NIGHT PRIME RIB SPECIAL THAT WAS INTRODUCED LAST YEAR. DELICIOUS AND I COULD NOT EAT IT ALL.
OF COURSE, THEY HAVE FISH ALL THREE NIGHTS,. CORY AND HIS MOM, LINDA HAVE MADE SOME NICE IMPROVEMENTS THE LAST COUPLE YEARS, INCLUDING A NICE GIFT SHOP. JUST LIKE AT CRACKER BARRELL, YOU CAN SHOP BEFORE OR AFTER DINING. AND NOW, AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, THEY HAVE A NEW LARGE (ACTUALLY ADDED A FEW SQUARE FEET) FAMILY OR RECEPTION ROOM, COMPLETE WITH FIREPLACE AND
THE LARGE BAR YOU SEE ABOVE. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH LIGHT
FOR GOOD PHOTO, SORRY. THEY STILL HAVE A STONE FRONT TO PUT ON THE BAR. ANYWAY, NOW THERE IS A REALLY NICE ROOM TO WAIT UNTIL YOUR NAME IS CALLED TO COME TO THE ADJACENT DINING ROOM.
QUITE A PLACE. OPEN FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ONLY. MOST OF THE TIME YOU "WAIT"....BUT WORTH THE "WAIT".
CLICK-ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE IT.
