76 THE HIGH TODAY....FOLLOWING A HALF-INCH OF RAIN OVERNIGHT AND
THIS MORNING.   SUNNY THIS AFTERNOON.
TOMORROW, INTO THE 80'S AND WARMER STILL ON WEDNESDAY, WITH
A HIGH IN UPPER 80'S.
THE RAIN WILL HELP THE SOYBEAN CROP A LITTLE BUT TOO LATE TO
HELP THE CORN CROP.
AND BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD SOME RAIN, THE "BURN BAN" IN JACKSON
COUNTY WILL BE LIFTED AT 8 A.M. TOMORROW.

TEACHERS IN THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL DISTRICT STARTED WORK
TODAY.   THEY HEARD A GUEST SPEAKER THIS MORNING AND TOMORROW
AND WEDNESDAY, IN ADDITION TO REGULAR PRE-SCHOOL-STARTING WORK, THEY WILL GO TO THE VOY THEATRE AND SEE THE "BULLY" MOVIE.    IT WILL ALSO BE SHOWN TO THE DISTRICT'S NON-TEACHERS, INCLUDING BUS DRIVERS, COOKS, ETC.    AND, IT WILL ALSO BE SHOWN TO ALL JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGHS SCHOOL STUDENTS.       THEN STARTING  AUGUST 24TH, IT WILL BE OPEN AT REGULAR SHOW TIMES FOR THE PUBLIC.  

SCHOOL STARTS THURSDAY IN MAQUOKETA!    A FULL DAY!

THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 24TH AT GOODENOW
FIELD, AGAINST CASCADE.     AND AGAIN THIS YEAR, FOR THE 3RD YEAR,
MATT CLARK WILL DO THE PLAY-BY-PLAY OF CARDINAL FOOTBALL GAMES, HOME AND AWAY.

GAS PIPELINE AND HAD NOT NOTIFIED THE IOWA ONE-CALL AS REQUIRED.

CYNTHIA BROOKS, AGE 30, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS FINED $262.50 ON CHARGES OF HARBORING A DANGEROUS ANIMAL.      MAQUOKETA POLICE
SAID A MAN REPORTED HE WAS  BITTEN BY BROOK'S DOG AT ABOUT
7:30 P.M. ON JUNE 8TH, AT 305 EAST PLEASANT STREET.

THE NEW LOCATION OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICES STORE IN MAQUOKETA IS IN THE BUILDING THAT WAS FOR MANY YEARS,  ALDI'S FOOD STORE.
THERE IS A LOT OF FREE PARKING AND THERE IS A LARGE BIN TO THE LEFT OF  THE  FRONT DOOR WHERE DONATIONS CAN BE DROPPED.
DONATIONS ARE NEEDED ALWAYS  AND VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
THE NET PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF ITEMS IS USED TO  HELP LESS FORTUNATE ANY TIME OF YEAR AND TO DO GOOD THINGS FOR A LOT OF
PEOPLE AT CHRISTMAS TIME.
