THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA WILL APPLY FOR A $600,000 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT TO GET RID OF THE RADIUM IN THE CITY WATER. THE OVERALL COST FOR THE PROJECT IS LISTED AT $2.9 MILLION. THE REST OF THE MONEY, WOULD COME FROM THE CITY ISSUING REVENUE BONDS AND THE BONDS DO NOT REQUIRE A PUBLIC VOTE.

TODD AND AMY PECKOSH OF BELLEVUE ARE PARENTS OF TWINS BORN THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH AT MERCY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE. MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE JERRY AND MARY ANN HEINZEL OF MAQUOKETA AND PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE TOM AND PAM PECKOSH OF BELLEVUE AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA.
JAMES BRYSON, AGE 56, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED NOVEMBER 12TH AT THE HOSPITAL IN MAQUOKETA.
HE HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF THE CRESTRIDGE NURSING HOME IN MAQUOKETA SINCE MAY OF 2002. THERE ARE
NO IMMEDIATE SURVIVORS. HE WORKED AT SHELTERED WORKSHOPS IN VARIOUS CITIES, INCLUDING GLENWOOD, WOODWARD AND GUTTENBERG.
