MONDAY REPORT

SOME  ICE AND 1-2 INCHES OF SNOW TOMORROW (TUESDAY) IN KMAQ AREA.

THIS PHOTO  TAKEN SUNDAY AT THE FULTON CHURCH NORTH OF MAQUOKETA.

ON LEFT OF COURSE IS 101 YEAR OLD RED HENTON OF MAQUOKETA.

WITH HIM, MATT WALKER, HIS GRANDSON.   HIS  MOTHER IS NANCY WHO NOW

LIVES IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA.

HE HAS BEEN THE ORGANIST FOR THE FULTON CHURCH FOR OVER 25 YEARS

AND YESTERDAY WAS HIS FINAL SUNDAY AT THE ORGAN, DECIDING IT WAS

TIME TO RETIRE FROM THE TWICE A MONTH HIGH PAYING  JOB.     HE  HAS LIVED IN

IOWA CITY MOST OF THOSE YEARS AND ESTIMATED HE HAS TRAVELED AROUND

100 THOUSAND MILES TO PLAY THE ORGAN IN FULTON.     THERE HAVE BEEN

ONLY A FEW TIMES WHEN WEATHER PREVENTED  HIM TO ATTEND.

MATT IS SINGLE, NEVER MARRIED,  AND STILL WORKS IN IOWA CITY.

HE STARTED WITH  PIANO LESSONS WHEN HE WAS IN GRADE SCHOOL AND

LATER LEARNED HOW TO PLAY THE ORGAN.     AND I CAN TELL YOU, HE IS

A VERY GOOD ORGANIST.    OVER THE YEARS HE  HAS ALSO  HELPED HIS GRANDPA

RECORD SONGS ON CD'S FOR DISTRIBUTION IN THE AREA.

HE WAS GIVEN A MUSIC BOX CLOCK YESTERDAY AFTER THE SERVICE AND

THEN AS ALWAYS WENT INTO THE NICE BASEMENT FOR A NOON LUNCH PROVED TO

THOSE ATTENDING THE SERVICE  BY CHURCH MEMBERS.    HE WILL BE MISSED BUT

PLANS TO COME BACK NOW AND THEN TO TAKE IN A SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE

FROM A PEW AND NOT  THE ORGAN  BENCH.
