FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

CLOUDY AND HIGH OF 31 TODAY.

WAS TOLD TODAY, ABOUT 200 ENJOYED THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING
DINNER YESTERDAY IN MAQUOKETA.

AND HEARD ALSO THAT THOUSANDS SHOPPED WALMART IN MAQUOKETA STARTING AT 6 LAST NIGHT FOR EARLY BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPER BARGAINS.

PATTY STILLMUNKES, AGE 51, DIED AT HER HOME IN PRESTON WEDNESDAY.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE HER HUSBAND LORAS, A DAUGHTER, AND 5 BROTHERS, INCLUDING GERALD URWIN OF MAQUOKETA, DAIL URWIN OF MAQUOKETA AND KENNETH URWIN OF MAQUOKETA.   THE FUNERAL WILL
BE TUESDAY AT 10 A.M. AT THE MILLER-LAW JONES FUNERAL  HOME
IN PRESTON.

THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD TIME TO EXPLAIN PUTTING OBITUARIES HERE ON MY DAILY REPORT.   FOR MOST MAQUOKETA DEATHS, I DO NOT LIST THEM
HERE AS ANYONE WANTING  THIS INFORMATION CAN GO DIRECTLY  TO THE
WEB SITE FOR BOTH CARSON'S AND LAHEY'S HERE IN MAQUOKETA.   BUT, IF I KNOW OF ANYONE FROM MAQUOKETA OR FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA THAT  WILL NOT HAVE A MAQUOKETA FUNERAL, I PUT THE INFORMATION ON HERE, INCLUDING FUNERAL SERVICE DAY AND TIME,  AND SURVIVORS.

THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATES  FOR OCTOBER.   IOWA, 4.5 PERCENT SAME AS SEPTEMBER.    U.S. RATE, 5.8, DOWN FROM 5.9 IN SEPTEMBER.
JACKSON COUNTY, 4.1 PERCENT IN OCTOBER, DOWN FROM 4.6 IN SEPTEMBER.

POLICE BLOTTER:   LINDSAY TIGH SAID SOMEONE BROKE INTO HER STORAGE UNIT AND SEVERAL ITEMS STOLEN.
DANNY SHADY ON N. 2ND STREET, REPORTED ITEMS TAKEN FROM HIS
STORAGE SHED.
PATTY HICKS ON YALE AVENUE SID HER CELL PHONE WAS STOLEN FROM HER HOME.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS WEEK APPROVED AN EARLY RETIREMENT FOR MARCIA CAMP WHO HAS WORKED FOR THE COUNTY FOR OVER 13 YEARS, MOST RECENTLY IN THE RECORDER'S OFFICE.   THE
EARLY RETIREMENT PROGRAM WILL PAY CAMP $5,000 IN EACH OF THE NEXT 3 YEARS WHICH MUST BE USED TOWARD PAYING INSURANCE COSTS.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM PLAYS A HALL OF PRIDE
EXHIBITION GAME TONIGHT IN MAQUOKETA AGAINST BETTENDORF.
VARSITY GAME AT 7:30 AT THE MAQUOKETA GYM.
