STOCK CAR RACING WAS HELD ON SCHEDULE AND WE HAD A COUPLE HUNDRED CARS AT THE 61 DRIVE-IN. BUT BECAUSE OF RAIN AND THE FORECAST FOR MORE,

THE MAQUOKETA FLY-IN ANNUAL BREAKFAST WAS A BIG SUCCESS IN MAQUOKETA TODAY DESPITE A LITTLE RAIN. THE EVENT WAS SPONSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUB AND THE MAQUOKETA AIRPORT COMMISSION. I'LL HAVE ATTENDANCE FIGURES LATER IN WEEK. DESPITE CLOUDY CONDITIONS, OVER
A DOZEN PLANES FLEW IN FOR THE BREAKFAST. AND HUNDREDS OF CARS DROVE
IN. AT 10:30, THERE WAS A LINE WAITING TO EAT, AS YOU CAN SEE HERE.
BECAUSE OF THE CLOUDS, NO AIRPLANE RIDES OR HELICOPTER RIDES WERE
GIVEN. IT WAS HOT ON THIS FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.

DR. JOE LECHTENBERG SR. (DDS) (RETIRED) WITH HIS WIFE KAY AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, ENJOYED BREAKFAST TODAY AT THE AIRPORT WEST OF MAQUOKETA OFF HIGHWAY 64. JOE DID SOME FLYING IN EARLIER DAYS AT THE MAQUOKETA AIRPORT. I'M SURE MANY OF YOU ENJOYED SEEING JOE A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR AT HIS OFFICE ON NORTH MAIN STREET, FOR MANY YEARS SHARED WITH
ANOTHER RETIRED DENTIST, DR. LEO BIEHL. THE BIEHL FAMILY STILL OWNS AND OPERATES THE DAIRY QUEEN ON SOUTH MAIN. AND DOC IS THERE DAILY
MAKING SURE THE POPULAR BUSINESS LOOKS ATTRACTIVE TO THE CUSTOMERS.
THE DRIVE-IN WINDOW ADDED A FEW YEARS AGO IS VERY POPULAR.
