THE WEATHER ISN'T GETTING MUCH BETTER. 4 INCHES OF SNOW YESTERDAY.
LIGHT SNOW ON AND OFF TODAY. MORE SNOW TONIGHT, MAYBE AN INCH.
WE ARE NOW OVER 15 INCHES FOR THE MONTH.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD THIS WEEK GOT A LOOK AT SOME INITIAL COST ESTMATES FOR A PROPOSED NEW 1600-CAPACITY GYM AT THE MAQUOKETA HIGH
SCHOOL. THE PROJECT WOULD ALSO INCLUDE A NEW WRESTLING AND WEIGHT ROOM, LOCKER ROOMS, A COMMONS AREA AND CAFETERIA. THE COST?
AROUND $5-MILLION DOLLARS. THE MONEY WOULD COME FROM THE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX.

IVARS ILGIS, AGE 63, DIED DECEMBER 8TH IN HERNANDO, FLORIDA. PRIVATE SERVICES WILL BE HELD. HE WAS A FORMER RESIDENT OF MAQUOKETA AND
OPERATED SEVERAL BUSINESSES, INCLUDING A ROOFING COMPANY AND
A MOVING-VAN BUSINESS. WHEN HERE, HE ENJOYED BOATING AND FISHING ON THE MAQUOKETA RIVER AND CAMPING AT 6-B'S. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SON, STEVE ILGIS AND DAUGHTER STACEY CHRISTIANSEN, BOTH OF DELHI.
