IT INTO OFFICES FOR JACKSON COUNTY. THIS WAS THE HARRIS PENROSE HOME AND LATER THE HAROLD PENROSE HOME THAT WAS PURCHASED
LAST YEAR BY THE COUNTY, FOR AROUND $200,000.
THE JACKSON COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL VOLUNTEERS ARE SEEKING DONATIONS FOR BUILDING THE MEMORIAL JUST WEST OF MT. HOPE CEMETERY. JOHN WILLIAMS AND BILL GOETTLER SPOKE TO THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCILK AND SAID STEVE LUCKE OF MAQUOKETA HAS DRAWN THE DESIGN WHICH INCLUDES TOMBSTONES WITH BRASS PLAQUES FOR EACH MILITARY SERVICE....A WALKWAY....AND SEATING. THEY ANTICIPATE THIS TO BE A 5 YEAR ENDEAVOR AND A BANK ACCOUNT
HAS BEEN SET UP AT THE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK FOR DONATIONS.
FIVE AREA SENIORS WERE AWARDED $500 AG SCHOLARSHIPS BY THE
JACKSON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE. JUST ONE FROM
MAQUOKETA......MARISSA TILL, DAUGHTER OF ALLAN AND KAREN TILL, WHO ATTENDS MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL AND PLANS TO ATTEND
IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY AND SEEK A DEGREE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES AND ANIMAL ECOLOGY. THESE FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS WERE MADE POSSIBLE BY: DR. DAVID PENCE MEMORIAL; JACKSON COUNTY CATTLEMEN;
