WEDNESDAY DAILY REPORT

MAQUOKETA  (AND JACKSON COUNTY)  IS RECUPERATING AFTER A 4-INCH SNOW FALL LAST NIGHT.     WE STARTED THE MORNING AT 14 DEGREES
AND THE TEMP HAS BEEN DROPPING UNDER SUNNY SKIES ALL DAY.
LATE THIS AFTERNOON, WE EXPECT TO BE DOWN TO 2 ABOVE.   
TONIGHT DOWN TO 9 BELOW!  TOMORROW, SUNNY WITH A
HIGH OF 20.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LAST NIGHT.    THERE WERE "PERSONELL" MATTERS DEALT WITH.     ROBERT EVERDING WILL CONTINUE TO TEACH
PHYSICS PART TIME UNTIL THE END OF THE SCHOOL  YEAR.  HE IS RETIRED FROM THE ANDREW SCHOOL DISTRICT.
THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF STEVEN KOOS AS INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECH.   HE HAS BEEN BASED AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
KATHY ANDERSON WHO WORKS AT MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE HIGH SCHOOL AS TEMPORARY HELP TO REPLACE KOOS UNTIL A NEW PERSON IS HIRED HOPEFULLY IN JANUARY.
CHUCK FARNUM RESIGNED AS 7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL COACH AND
CHANCE JENKINS RESIGNED AS AN ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH.
ON A 4 TO 1 VOTE, THE SCHOOL BOARD VOTED TO NOT OFFER EARLY
RETIREMENT TO DISTRICT EMPLOYEES THIS YEAR.

AN ACCIDENT IN TOWN.    LEVI LANGER, AGE 18, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS NORTH BOUND, APPLIED HIS BRAKES AND LOST CONTROL AND STRUCK
A LEGALLY PARKED CAR OWNED BY DIANE ALBERT.   AND THAT CAR
PUSHED ANOTHER LEGALLY PARKED CAR OWNED BY ALBERT.    LANGER
WAS CHARGED.   $1,000 DAMAGE TO HIS VEHICLE.   $3,000 IN DAMAGES TO ONE OF ALBERT'S VEHICLES AND $500 DAMAGE TO THE OTHER.   NO ONE WAS HURT IN THIS 11 A.M. ACCIDENT YESTERDAY.

A  JACKSON COUNTY COWBOY WON A MAJOR AWARD LAST NIGHT
AT THE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO COMPETITION IN LAS VEGAS.
TIM O'CONNELL WON THE ROOKIE OF  THE YEAR AWARD IN BAREBACK
RIDING.  HE WON THE AWARD DESPITE BEING INJURED DURING THE
SEASON.    HE IS UNABLE TO TAKE PART IN THE FINALS GOING ON NOW.
THE MCHS GRAD IS THE SON OF RAY AND JOANN O'CONNELL OF RURAL
ZWINGLE.

KAISEE SCHNOOR, A SENIOR AT MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL (ON THE
HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING TEAM) BOWLED IN A FAMILY EVENT WITH
HER FATHER, DAVE, SATURDAY AT THE BOWLMORE LANES IN DAVENPORT.
AND...ROLLED 275, 224, AND 205 FOR A FANTASTIC 704 SCRATCH SERIES.

GOOD HOT SOUP SUPPER

THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HELD THEIR ANNUAL SOUP SUPPER AND BASKET AUCTION AT THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM LAST NIGHT.     GOOD SOUP, GOOD TURNOUT.

AND ALSO LAST NIGHT AT THE MCHS GYM, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS  BASKETBALL TEAM LOST IN OVERTIME TO DEWITT AND THEN THE SABER BOYS ALSO DEFEATED THE CARDINAL BOYS.

4 INCHES OF SNOW THIS MORNING TO SHOVEL.   GOING TO GET COLD
TODAY.    NOW 15 BUT DOWN TO 3 BY FIVE THIS (WED) AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT, DOWN TO 9 BELOW.   THAT'S RIGHT,  9 BELOW.
