TO HIS 2004 DODGE RAM. NO CHARGES FILED.
IN SPORTS, THE MAQUOKETA WRESTLERS TOOK 4TH (FIELD OF 12) IN THE
DEWITT SABER INVITATIONAL SATURDAY.
IN BASKETBALL, THE MAQUOKETA BOY LOST TO DYERSVILLE BECKMAN IN OT
FRIDAY NIGHT AND THE GIRLS ALSO LOST TO DYERSVILLE.
CHRIS PETAROS DIED LAST WEEK AT AGE OF 95. HIS BROTHER WAS GEORGE WHO RAN THE GREEN MILL IN MAQUOKETA. CHRIS HELPED
GEORGE AND THEN MOVED TO THE QUAD CITIES WHERE HE AND WIFE HELEN OWNED THE ONLY GREEK RESTAURANT (THE OLYMOPIC FLAME) IN SILVIS, ILLINOIS UNTIL 2005. HE WAS AN EXCELLENT CANDY MAKER TOO. BOTH GEORGE AND CHRIS CAME TO AMERICA FROM KOLLINES, GREECE. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE HELEN, A DAUGHER AND 5 GRANDCHILDREN, ALSO TOM PETAROS IN MAQUOKETA (NEPHEW) AND GEORGIA PETAROS ROBINSON IN MAQUOKETA (NIECE). I KNEW BOTH CHRIS AND HELEN AND ONCE MY WIFE AND I ENJOYED A GREEK MEAL AT THEIR RESTAURANT, COURTESY OF THE LATE JIM MAROUSIS OF MAQUOKETA, FRIENDS OF THE PETAROS FAMILY.
