IOWA SENATOR (R) JONI ERNST STOPPED AT JACKSON COUNTY YESTERDAY TO TOUR THE HEATHER AND BRANDON MOORE FARM AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEMSS THAT YOUNG FARMERS FACE. ON THE MOORE FARM, THEY
HAVE 50 MILKING COWS AND ABOUT 85 FEEDER COWS. HEATHER MOORE
TOLD THE SENATOR THAT SHE HAD ACTUALLY JUST STARTED MILKING
IN OCTOBER BECAUSE IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING SHE WANTED TO
DO SINCE SHE HAD GROWN UP IN WISCONSIN, THE DAIRY STATE.
THE "MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E" STARTS FRIDAY NATIONWIDE AND AT VOY 1 THEATRE IN MAQUOKETA. THE POPULAR "PIXELS" MOVIE ALSO STARTS
FRIDAY IN MAQUOKETA.
THE CAMP SHALOM CHRISTIAN CAMP WILL HOST A RUGGED RUN THIS
SATURDAY. THE CHALLENGING 5K WILL BE ON A CROSS-COUNTRY TRAIL
THAT RUNS THROUGH THE CAMP WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE MAQUOKETA CAVES ROAD. IT WILL START AT 9 A.M. REGISTRATION IS $45 FOR PEOPLE 12 AND OLDER AND $25 FOR THOSE 11 AND YOUNGER. PROCEEDS WILL
HELP FUND CAMP SHALOM'S "CAMPERSHIP" PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES A SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE FOR THOSE WHOSE FAMILY CAN NOT AFFORD TO SEND A CHILD. SATURDAY, THERE WILL BE CAMP-INSPIRED FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS AFTER THE RUN AND PEOPLE WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO TRY THE CLIMBING WALL AND ZIP LINE ON THE CAMP GROUNDS.
A WORLD WAR TWO DEFENSE DEPARTMENT PLANE FACTORY IN THE 40'S.
A NEW HOME WAS BUILDT IN MAQUOKETA THIS SPRING AND WORK ON
ANOTHER BEGAN THIS WEEK ON THE NEW STREET IN "LONGVIEW" ADDITION
AT THE NEAR SOUTH EDGE OF MAQUOKETA.

MICHAEL VERST OF UNION, KENTUCKY, IN HONOR OF HIS LATE WIFE, KAREN.
MICHAEL MODIFIED THE CAR FOR KAREN AND INSTALLED AN AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION AFTER SHE LOST A LEG DO TO A RARE FORM OF BONE CANCER. THE PROJECT TOOK 8 YEARS TO COMPLETE AND WAS A LABOR OF LOVE ACCORDING TO MICHAEL VERST. CAMP COURAGEOUS PLANS TO RAFFLE THE CAR AND WILL ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF THE RAFFLE SOON.
