A HOME IN BALDWIN WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
BALDWIN AND MAQUOKETA FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO THE HOME
AT HIWAY 64 AND 52ND AVENUE JUST AFTER 2:30. THE HOME WAS
FORMERLY THE "QUARTERDECK BAR" IN BALDWIN. KEVIN EHLINGER
WAS LIVING THERE. HE WAS ASLEEP AT THE TIME AND AWOKE TO HEAVY SMOKE. WHEN FIREMEN ARRIVED, SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING
FROM THE HOME AND FIREMEN BELIEVE IT STARTED IN THE AREA OF
A WOOD BURNING STOVE. THE BUILDING HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS A TOTAL LOSS. NO ONE HURT. FIREMEN WERE AT THE SCENE A COUPLE HOURS.
POLICE BLOTTER: A MAQUOKETA RESIDENT, EARL CHERRY, TOLD POLICE THAT SOMONE VANDALIZED HIS APARTMENT AT 119 NORTH MAIN.
THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS RE-APPOINTED JACK WILLEY AS CHAIRMAN. BUCK KOOS WAS RE-ELECTED VICE-CHAIRMAN.

MAQUOKETA ROTARY CLUB WILL AGAIN CO-SPONSOR THE "FRIENDS OF
AGRICULTURE" AWARDS DURING THE FEBRUARY KMAQ FARM AND
HOME SHOW. FARMER OF THE YEAR...AGRI-BUSINESS PERSON
OF THE YEAR....AND AG PUBLIC SERVICE PERSON OF THE YEAR.
