HOPE I HAVE BETTER LUCK TODAY.

THE LAST COUPLE DAYS HAVE BEEN MOSTLY CLOUDY AND COOLER. REST OF THE WEEK LOOKING ABOUT THE SAME.

THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOLS WILL BE MAKING COCA COLA AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS. LAST NIGHT, THE BOARD UNAMIMOUSLY APPROVED AN EXCLUSIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE COKE COMPANY AND IN EXCHANGE, COKE WILL PROVIDE $7,000 PER YEAR . THE BOARD STIPULATED THAT THE VENDING MACHINES WOULD NOT BE ON FROM 11 A.M UNTIL 1 P.M. AND THE PROCEEDS TO THE SCHOOL BE USED TOWARD THE PROMOTION OF HEALTH AND FITNESS PROGRAMS.

COURT NEWS: JEFFREY YAPPEN, AGE 34, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS SENTENCED IN DISTRICT COURT TO 30 DAYS IN JAIL, 28 SUSPENDED, ON AMENDED CHARGES OF OWI. HE ORIGINALLY WAS CHARGED WITH OWI-SECOND OFFENSE.

LESLIE LAWSON, NEW PRESIDENT OF THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD, IS THE ROTARY "CITIZEN OF THE WEEK" THIS WEEK. A PICTURE AND STORY IS ON THE ROTARY WEB SITE.

THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL H OST A FORUM FOR NOVEMBER CANDIDATES TOMORROW NIGHT AT CITY HALL.

DJ AND JULIE GLASER OF SPRAGUEVILLE ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN FRIDAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. GRANDPARENTS ARE DENNIS AND CONNIE GLASER OF MAQUOKETA.

ALEAH ROSE STEFFEN, INFANT DAUGHTER OF DARREN AND ASHLEY STEFFEN OF MAQUOKETA WAS STILLBORN SATURDAY AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.

THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST CHURCH HOLIDAY "TEA" HOUSE WILL BE THIS SATURDAY AT THE PEARSON HALL ON THE FAIRGROUNDS....10 AM UNTIL 2 PM. THEY ARE EXTENDING A SPECIAL INVITATION TO THE RED HAT LADIES AND THEIR COLORS. MAQUOKETA HAS FOUR RED HAT SOCIETY CHAPTERS.

MAQUOKETA WILL GET A NEW CASEY'S CONVENIENCE STORE SOON....MORE LATER ON IT.

THE MASTER GARDNERS OF JACKSON COUNTY WILL START ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS STARTING NOVEMBER 1ST. APPLICATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE EXTENSION OFFICE IN THE COURT HOUSE BASEMENT.
