THURSDAY DAILY

TWO VIEWS OF CONCRETE POURING THIS AFTERNOON IN THE MAIN AND PLEASANT STREETS INTERSECTION.

ABOVE TWO PHOTOS ARE A NORTH AND SOUTH VIEW OF THE MIDDLE BLOCK OF MAIN STREET WHICH WILL OPEN NOVEMBER 1ST.

THE BELOW PHOTOS ARE OF A NEW MAIN STREET PROJECT.   WHEN OSTERHAUS PHARMACY WAS
EXPANDED AROUND 40 YEARS AGO, THE OUTSIDE BRICKS ON THE BUILDINGS WERE COVERED OVER WITH METAL....VERY POPULAR IN THOSE DAYS.     NOW, IT IS POPULAR IN MANY CITIES TO TAKE OFF THE METAL AND EXPOSE AND TUCK-POINT THE BRICKS TO MAKE A  BUILDING LOOK LIKE IT DID WHEN FIRST BUILDT.    THE OSTERHAUS BUILDING,  NOW THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE BULDING, WILL GO FROM METAL TO ORIGINAL BRICK AND WORK STARTED TODAY AS YOU WILL SEE IN BELOW TWO PHOTOS.

I'M SURE THE BUILDING WILL HAVE A NICE NEW LOOK!   A GREAT IDEA!    AND  REMEMBER...STILL TO COME...NEW STREET POLES AND LIGHTS AND
BANNERS!
