THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN LAST SUNDAY AT BOYER HALL ON THE FAIRGROUNDS.
THESE TWO HARDWORKING GRILLERS ARE ROBERT CHRISTENSEN, LEFT AND
MIKE FISHER. THESE TWO MASONS AND A HOST OF OTHERS, INCLUDING WIVES,
TWICE A YEAR, PUT ON A GREAT BELGIUM WAFFLE BREAKFAST, THE 3RD SUNDAY OF MAY AND THE 2ND SUNDAY IN OCTOBER. ITS A GREAT BREAKFAST! I HAVE MISSED ONLY A COUPLE OVER THE YEARS. YES...SAUSAGE OFF THE GRILL IS INCLUDED.
THE MASONS HAVE THEIR HOME UP AT THE END OF MCKINSEY DRIVE, BEHIND
BANOWETZ ANTIQUE MALL. PROCEEDS FROM THEIR BREAKFASTS ARE USE FOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS. FOR INSTANCE, THEY HAVE BOUGHT 600 PAIRS OF SHOES FOR NEEDY CHILDREN SINCE 2000 AND WILL TAKE 36 CHILDREN OUT TO WAL MART
ON SATURDAY JUNE 6TH TO BUY SHOES. THEY WILL MEET AT THE MASONIC
CENTER AT 1 P.M. FOR A TREAT AS WELL. I DON'T KNOW MIKE, BUT I'VE KNOWN
ROBERT AND BONNIE FOR MANY YEARS. THEY LIVE IN ONE OF THE MANY BRAD DEERY APARTMENTS ON MUGGSIE LANE. ROBERT IS A RETIRED MINISTER,
TEACHER AND BARBER. BONNIE WORKED FOR MANY YEARS FOR JC PENNEY AND
NOW FILLS IN WHEN NEEDED AT THE CHAMBER OFFICE. AND FOR YEARS, ROBERT HAS KEPT WEATHER PRECIPITATION RECORDS, FIRST FOR KCRG-TV AND NOW
FOR KMAQ. WHENEVER IT RAINS OR SNOWS, ROBERT CALLS EARLY IN THE MORNING AND WE CHAT OVER THE AIR ABOUT THE SNOW OR RAIN. THANKS TO THE MASONS...AND THANKS TO BASEBALL FANS TOO, ROBERT AND BONNIE.
LAST SUNDAY, I HAD BLUEBERRIES ON ONE WAFFLE AND CHERRIES ON THE OTHER.
