WEDNESDAY DAILY REPORT

LIGHT RAIN THIS MORNING AND SUNSHINE THIS AFTERNOON.    LITTLE
WINDY ALSO TODAY AND A HIGH OF 74.
LITTLE OR NO RAIN THE REST OF THE WEEK WITH HIGHS TOMORROW AND
FRIDAY, 75  AND UPPER 70'S SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT INCREASES IN THE COST OF CLINTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE CLASSES....$600 PER SECTION, UP $100 AND ONLINE COURSES UP
FROM 45 TO 55-PERCENT OF THE CREDIT HOUR COST.     THE BOARD RELUCTANTLY APPROVED A 28E AGREEMENT WITH THE COLLEGE BECAUSE THEY SAID THE CCC PROGRAM IS GREAT FOR MAQUOKETA AREA STUDENTS

AT LITTLE BEAR PARK, THE CITY WILL PAY FOR THE CARVING OF A BEAR ON
A TREE STUMP ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE PARK AND ALSO WILL PAY
FOR THE PARK SIGN, ALL AT A COST OF $800.      ALSO AT LITTLE BEAR, CITY
CREWS ARE WORKING NOW ON A NEW LAWN AREA AROUND THE PARK.

IN HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL LAST NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS DEFEATED ANAMOSA IN A DOUBLE-HEADER 2 TO 1 AND 16 TO 3.

THIS MONTH, MAX RAY JEWELER IS 68 YEARS OLD, ESTABLISHED IN 1946.
IT WAS STARTED BY MAX AND ISLA RAY, THEN TAKEN OVER SON TOM AND
WIFE ROCHELLE AND SINCE TOM DIED, ROCHELLE CONTINUES TO RUN
THE BUSINESS, ONE OF MAQUOKETA'S OLDEST STORES.
