THE OPTIMIST CLUB FLY-IN BREAKFAST WAS A HUGE SUCCESS YESTERDAY WITH AROUND 800 SERVED.
OVER 60 PLANES FLEW IN FOR IT TOO. THERE WAS A CONSTANT LINE FOR THE AIRPLANE AND HELICOPTER RIDES.

A SEMI HIT A COW LAST NIGHT, NEAR BERNARD. THE SEMI, OWNED AND BY DRIVEN BY DAVE MOREHEAD FOR HIS THREE HILLS RANCH AND RODEO, CAME UPON 3 HEAD OF CATTLE ABOUT 10:30 LAST NIGHT ON THE BERNARD ROAD. HE COULDN'T GET THE SEMI STOPPED AND HIT AND KILLED ONE OF THE ANIMALS, VALUED AT $1,200. THE TRUCK RECEIVED ABOUT $7,000 IN DAMAGES AND MOREHEAD WAS NOT INJURED.

MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT. ONE OF THE AGENDA ITEMS...SHOULD MAQUOKETA HAVE AN ORDINANCE DEALING WITH PEOPLE PICKING UP DOG EXCREMENT WHILE WALKING THEIR DOG.

WE HAVE NOT OBITUARIES AT THE PRESENT TIME, LOCAL OR OTHERWISE.

THE BIG ANNUAL DEMOCRATIC STEAK FRY IS THIS SUNDAY LATE AFTERNOON AT THE KALMES RESTAURANT AT ST. DONATUS. $25 A TICKET.

ABOUT 300 MORE DUCKS WERE SOLD SATURDAY AT DICK'S SUPER MARKET AND AT WAL MART, FOR THE ROTARY DUCK RACE TOMORROW NIGHT. ROTARIANS WERE OUTSIDE AT THE ENTRANCE TO BOTH STORES, OFFERING SHOPPERS THE CHANCE TO WIN $1,000 OR $100 IN THE ANNUAL RACE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.

THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS COMEDY AT THE NEW OHNWARD CENTER IS THIS WEEKEND IN MAQUOKETA.

I WENT GOLFING FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR YESTERDAY AT THE PRAIRIE CREEK COURSE.
